Day 2 Highlights:

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the most expensive buy of Day 2 as he was taken by RCB for IR 10.75 crore.

13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made waves as he was bought by RR for INR 1.10 crore.

IPL legend David Warner went unsold, marking the end of an era.

MI -- 8/10

For me MI is 12/10 if their main players remain injury-free.

They have the best team.

Even DC is a pretty good side, but only due to being trophyless, they aren't getting eyeballs.

CSK did fine for playing in Chepauk but issues would be when we have a huge score.

But if CSK is underrated they do better in the Tournament.

The second day also marked the end of an era in the IPL.

Since he made his debut as a fairly unknown name who hadn't even played first class cricket in Australia all the way back in 2009, David Warner has played in every season of the IPL except in 2018 when he was serving a ban. There was rarely a question of him even having to enter an IPL auction until 2021. On Monday, though, the 38-year-old, who retired from all forms of international cricket this year, went unsold.

Another IPL legend who went unsold was New Zealand great Kane Williamson. Any hopes of seeing James Anderson in the IPL was dashed at the start of the accelerated auction process itself when he wasn't picked.

The biggest pieces of business remain the ones that was done on Day 1. Rishabh Pant is easily the most expensive player of the auction, this one and all that came before.

However, that record was broken first by Shreyas Iyer just minutes before he was bought by LSG, with the title-winning captain of KKR going to Punjab Kings for 26.75 crores. KKR, meanwhile, sprung a huge surprise by coughing up INR 23.75 crore for Venkatesh Iyer. Faf du Plessis, who captained RCB the last two seasons, has gone to Delhi Capitals.

This now all but confirms the fact that Virat Kohli will become captain of RCB again.

The curtains come down on the mega-auction

IPL Auction LIVE Updates: Rishabh Pant's INR 27 crore acquisition by LSG remains the biggest bid by some distance but the news that might leave anyone baffled, surprised, elated, puzzled, with a dose of existential crisis and all other kinds of emotions across the board would be the fact that a 13-year-old boy got picked for INR 1.10 crore. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has gone to Rajasthan Royals who do have a knack of giving young talent a stage to shine - think Ravindra Jadeja or Yashasvi Jaiswal, just off the top of the head.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the most expensive buy of the second day at INR 10.75 crore and he will be reunited with his longtime India teammate Virat Kohli at RCB. It is also the end of an era with David Warner going unsold. Having made his debut back in 2009, Warner has not featured in just one season since and that was in 2018 when he was serving a ban. It means that effectively, the 2025 season will be the first since the second edition of the IPL in which Warner won't be playing because he wasn't selected by any team. The same is the case for Kane Williamson. Any cheeky hopes of seeing James Anderson in the IPL, on the ground or on the bench, was dashed at the start of the accelerated auction process itself.

The teams are set, there might be some tweaks here forced by injuries but all in all, it is all done. Not just for next season, but for the next few seasons.
