the problem with rishta what I have observed is people take this legacy thing seriously. Like they don't want even a small scar on FL to happen and start demanding for an AA. makers ko kya they know ppl do that. So they purposefully make ML do something stupid so that Fl supporters easily accept anyone over him and accept their creativity ignoring the fact that they butchered ML to do that. They will repeat the same thing. AA comes he will also do something stupid they bring one more man. FL's characteristics are lost because her sole purpose in the show would be to make a bond with each new man who comes into the show. They will not stop until everyone realizes that it's a fictional show and Trp ke liye characters will get butchered but that does not mean FL needs a new man every time.
