Ekta chose 11 p.m. slot for YHM because this show was meant for urban viewers, and she meant to keep YHM a finite series rather than her never ending sagas. But later on, YHM became one though
I have no idea about season 1 and 2 of Ghum but this season which is a blatant copy of YHM is meant to be something which discusses the complexity involved in divorces, remarriages, infidelity in marriage, step moms and step children relation dynamics, step mom is a good woman here though, women dealing with infertility etc.
Raman is a very complicated character, he has been cheated by his wife and forced to stay away from his son, by putting false allegations on him, imagine the trauma he must have gone through. Adi is his weakness. Raman does some things which makes everyone around him unhappy but makes Adi happy. After he makes Ishita apologize Adi and Shagun, he regrets it very badly, from then on we'll see him disciplining Adi very differently keeping his weakness for Adi aside. He even makes Adi apologize Ishita.
While promoting YHM, Ekta gave clear insight what audience should expect from the show. It's about second chances in love, custody battle between parents, infidelity in marriage, divorces, remarriages, step mom, step children, all of those. For all who don't know, Shagun was the protagonist of Custody novel, who leaves Raman for a career of her own, which Raman and family don't allow her to go for. In fact, Manju Kapoor, who is the author of Custody novel, requested Ekta not to make Shagun a villain. It's easy to fight evil villains, but how to handle your children's mother who brainwashes your child against you? YHM is all about complexities involved in the lives of Raman and Ishita, in their marriage, with a bratty ex hovering over them all the time and for now it's the story of Rajat-Savi.
Ghum makers can't give interviews like Ekta about their show, because they are copying YHM, one thing, and they can't claim rightfully that their show bud from their intense research on today's fragile relationships. Ghum makers pushed their audience into this season without giving a proper insight to them, and the FL here has a back story which doesn't fit into YHM's narrative all of a sudden. All who you're watching this season try watching promotional events of YHM, you'll get to know what to expect from this show.
