So yeah it’s certainly some weird digital revenge saga lol. Sucking the joy out of it all. Literally 2 days ago most of the Yumhaj fandom was excited about SMD. Making edits and even calling out people who were shading it. Totally on board. The fandom was being mature as hell. Even got credit for it. And then within 24 hours it was astonishing how the fiasco from yesterday reset everything back to hell. Now it’s a circus. People like me are still invested of course - because Wahaj - but it’s no longer a clean slate. Probably best to watch the show away from the circus 🥴

My 2 cents on this whole Wahaj, Maya and Yumna thing.

I don’t get too involved on this forum because I find it all disheartening. I’m a huge fan of TB, Wahaj and Yumna. Maya also seems like someone who is really nice and I feel they don’t deserve to be targeted. I agree that this is probably just a fan war but the nastiness gets to them as well.

Some people don’t like Wahaj or Yumna and that’s fine, everyone has their taste. I agree though to not use our hate for one to prop up the other. My main problem is with those within our own fandom (Yumhaj) that take sides and unfairly target the other.

As Yumhaj fans, we are allowed to like their individual projects too without being called sellouts.

I think I’ve figured out the issue. It only seems to be a problem if either of them are paired against an A-lister that have potential “chemistry” (starting to hate that word) with. No one minded Yumna when she was paired with Usama in Nayab, no one minded when Wahaj was paired with Hareem in 22 Qadam. Even though Humayun is an A-lister, I guess because he’s a senior and Yumna has more of a respectful relationship rather than a friendly one, people have been okay with him. Otherwise, Gentleman was heavily promoted, hailed as the biggest drama of the year, chemistry was being promoted and ship names were being made by production before its release. I’m not criticizing it because I feel like it’s just every show’s strategy now. Compare this with a simple photoshoot she did with Ahmed recently which got him targeted for no reason at all. They are known to have chemistry and people ship them in real life so maybe some people feel like they are a threat to the ship. That was really unfair.

I feel the hate SMD is receiving from some of our fans is unfair and way too harsh. Let’s just say the show is engaging in PR, which I’m sure they are for the most part, then what are they doing that is unique? Sure call it out if you want, but also realize it’s all part of the game and that everyone engages in it. I don’t believe Wahaj’s PR is part of some things but that’s besides the point. Also the deleting comments thing - again I see the negative comments and she’s never been known to delete comments in past so I have my doubts - but let’s just say she did. What is wrong in her deleting comments that she felt was negative on her personal instagram account? Again call it out if you want but does it warrant hate? Is this not an overreaction? Was this and the Aima comment enough to make people completely flip if they were supporting it from before? Using a clip of TB from the same production house with same actor in it is wrong somehow? Yes they are heavily marketing this but what is new in that? Every show is doing that. If Yumhaj fans were supportive of the show before then why not continue doing so or at least ignore it. There is so much active hate against SMD and then Yumna gets dragged in something she was never part of. I think those of us who support both can do better. I know most of us Yumhaj fans on this forum are normal, I’m only referring to the ones spreading hate.

You’re right about the divisions within the fandom leading to friction and if you deviate even slightly you’re called out as a sell out. But maybe to you it wasn’t a big deal but given the fandoms history, every time there’s hypocrisy it will get called out and then things just blow up. When you have pages like GL, who called the YumHaj shipping “inappropriate” during the tours, repost what Aima wrote and not even initially use the character names, people will of course target them for their hypocrisy.

Many on Twitter are still being mature and supporting the show. It’s just that the others are louder and post more. You’ll see all the main accounts watching.

Another thing is the silence from solos when Yumna gets targeted but if anyone else does the response is there. Yumna gets bashed here daily. How many Wahaj “fans” respond to the hate ? Hardly any.

Ultimately it’s not a Wahaj, Yumna or Maya problem. It’s immaturity of fans. If you look at the actors they are always supportive of one another and share a great bond.

You’re a YumHaj fan but have I ever called you out as being a Wahaj solo just because you haven’t seen Gentleman? It’s your choice right? Who cares? But the moment any Yumhaj fan doesn’t want to watch SMD or is having reservations about it, immediately you’ll be labelled Yumna solo It’s kind of crazy
