While Saba and Salar have clearly grown up in wealth, his father is implied to be not. That is why Tahir is so measured about his interactions with everyone. He uses all his personal connections to advance his own status and wealth. It is implied in early episodes that Tahir who was a rising businessman married Saba's mom (who came from wealth). They had Saba and unfortunately, Saba's mom passed away. Saba's maternal family is still in contact with her and Saba even brought up her own maternal uncle's daughter who was brought up in USA as a potential bride for Salar and was showing him her pictures. It is also implied that Tahir was left a young grieving widower father with a barely toddler daughter. Not sure exactly how Salar's mom came into the picture but she expressed regret that despite entering the corporate world, she chose to let go of her career the moment she met Tahir through it and focused on establishing herself in the rich wives club once she had Salar. So it was kind of implied that they met through corporate world, probably a grieving Tahir needed company and a mother for his daughter (Saba and Salar's mom get along quite well, you would actually hardly believe that they are not bio mom and child) and Salar's mom who is clearly from an established upper middle class background and wanted to climb up the social ladder further married him in a hurry and had Salar. One of the reasons why she and Tahir are so involved in charity and socials is because they are nouveau riche. They want the acceptance and foothold in the upper class social circles. By contrast, Saba and Salar have grown up with the same privilege as other old money, so this does not really matter to them that much. The Mirzas are old money. You can even see that in Sahiba's mom who is clearly from a very established background and from Sahiba herself, who is her father's only child and heir (implying that they are secure in their status even though their only child is a girl). Why Sikandars want to marry off Salar to Sahiba is because not only that would give their lineage the permanent foothold in old moneyed class of Karachi but also the entire Mirza fortune through Sahiba would come to the next generation of Sikandars. Tahir is implied to be quite wealthier than both Mirza and Sufiyan, that is somewhat of a sore point for the latter as they don't really like to rub shoulders with upstarts. That is why the moment they found a weakness in Salar - the supposed animal killing and deportation - they came after him. After all, Salar is Tahir's heir and they know by insulting Salar, they are showing that Tahir will never be equal to them even if Salar has been raised in wealth. However, Salar is still the heir to Tahir's fortune so he is still a very eligible and coveted bachelor in their circles.

Oh it is definitely projection. Salar's mom was a gold digger, Salar himself has clearly stated so. But also Salar's mom is from a very established upper middle class, possibly wealth adjacent background. Salar's nani wears silk sarees with parsi ghara or lace borders (quite expensive sarees) with pearls, her house is spacious and has a lot of books and old colonial style furniture, while Sitara is really middle middle class. That is why Salar told his nani that he hopes that she won't judge Sitara from where she lived. Salar's mom is not blaming others. She is projecting. She knows that she married Tahir only for his money, was interested only in kitty parties, neglected her son, was ultimately incompatible with her husband and mostly tolerates his presence albeit with rare moments of affection, now acknowledges that her family life is poor and broken to the point her son refuses to spend any "family time" with them and she now regrets not focusing on her career and relying on Tahir's money which allows him to misbehave with her. Sitara (via whatever Salar's mom knows of Salman) is even a poorer choice than herself. Given that Salman is a gold digger or greedy, she automatically assumes that Sitara is also one herself.

Thank you. Now it makes sense. I think you understand each character in this show even better than its writer. smiley4

So even in rich ppl circle there are class differences, between rich and richer, born rich and struggle untill become rich. For this they are keen in creating an image in front of society.

In Kesi Tere Khudgharzi , another Pakistani drama.. which had the same topic.. the rich guy fell for a professor's daughter. But his rich family didn't agree to their marriage .. his father even attempted killing the girl. smiley3

Thank you for the compliment.smiley1 Honestly, I don't think I know the characters better than the writer. I just like dissecting characterizations a lot.

Yes, even in rich people circles, there are micro class differences. And they can become particularly vicious.

Lmao. Salar is indeed very well written. Objectively speaking, things like these should have creeped us out. But you honestly feel and understand his love, care and worry for Sitara, even if it is somewhat obsessive at several points, with dashes of somewhat alarming possessiveness. You are right when you say that it is needed because Sitara is stupidly self-sacrificial by nature and her family are an absolute toxic cesspool, both of which Salar is very well aware of. So it balances things out. Also, in real life, things are a lot messier and sometimes even enter a grey territory. In fiction, unfortunately sometimes you have to sacrifice feminism to enjoy a good romance. smiley36

Objectively speaking, it was no wonder that his dad thought he was harassing a girl because clearly whatever he was seeing kind of gave him the impression that Salar was trying to chase after a girl with his money. First he used his dad's influence to get favour from one of his business associates to transfer her fiance with a much bigger salary and other perks to Dubai, then he broke up another of her weddings and declared her his responsibility while missing his flight to a job for which he fought tooth and nail with his dad, then he got her a car and the girl clearly refused him as she threw back the key in his face and injured him (clearly showing that the girl is not materialistic), then his son apparently returns home from Canada with no explanation and keeps muttering and texting yeh tum achha nahi kar rahi ho and obsessively calling someone and crying and tells his wife that he is in love with this girl who is engaged to be married to his former childhood friend, then ultimately his very ill son goes out to a restaurant in rain and his guards inform him that the girl threatened to take her life with poison because he threatened her fiance. Obviously, at this time he would be alarmed at his own son's behaviour.

See its not that hard to understand that sometimes we have sacrifice our feminism to enjoy a good romance cause from inside we all are sadistic souls lmao smiley37

we enjoy when a hero does stuff like this its alarming but charming too like i don't shy from agreeing that if I'm being forced by my family to marry a creep and there is a guy who is trying to save me according to him and his twisted ways but I'm saying no stop it but from inside i too would wanted to be saved by him smiley36smiley2

And about salars father that man is cooked lol he doesn't care about his son at all we all know otherwise any parent with full trust on their kid would try to understand that their could be another reason too like no bro directly believed it .. warna parents tou esy hoty k i trust my son he can't do such a thing .. he is all business minded admi

Salar is actually very hurt at his parents' rejection of Sitara and their upcoming marriage. When Nani pointed out that when Tahir married Salar's mom (I forgot her name), socio-economic class was not an issue for him but his father is being a hypocrite in his regards, you can see his thoughts turn towards it. The look on his face when Sitara was pretty much being equalised to his rescued animals - I don't think his parents are realising that they are losing their son and perhaps for good this time.

HOLY SHIT! The upcoming episode!!!!!

.... Finally caught up all episodes.. Can someone tell me what's with the change in sitaras attitude??.. I'm a little confused.. Since her engagement to salaar she has behaved a little arrogant ( honestly arrogant is not the right word but i can't explain it better)

Like now she is answering back and basically telling everyone to buzz off.. Like as if the family's opinion doesn't matter to her anymore..

.... . Which is how it should be but I'm not getting which scene/episode they showed this transition because earlier she was very much bothered about "meri family kya sochegi mere baare mein"... One minute they show her telling salaar to get salman back and then the rain sequence and then this HUGE change... What happened??
