If he wanted to chase her in regards to confirm her feelings for him, then he needed to chase her explicitly. The twisted words and phrases and then him leaving it there without confrontation about the “feelings” he felt within their hugs was a major pull back. It not only created more misunderstanding but a rift in their relationship too. Then the whole dramatic 360 turn was a major turn off for many viewers and we lost the soul connection between them.

I just hope the makers can redeem something and start some things from scratch so some of their feelings can make logical sense.
