Long before I had seen a show on colors Ishq ka rang Safed . Beautiful show with a concept of widows their sufferings and how society treats them even now.And how a young man tries to reform the thoughts of his . Till they showed their marriage it was good , then it turned to usual crap. I had watched it till then.. afterwards colors too got in the trp race and started their naagin and two women , one men dramas ...

Even Sony had good shows , but because of star plus and their competition , now every channel has same trend .

Exactly my point if they want Television can be a great medium to influence...

Chalo, let it be they are making it for business but then why so much toxicity? Who said ligh hearted content can't be accepted? And I'm not saying complete light hearted as we want to see some strong emotional intimacy too but then they can balance it with blend of both nah?

Why only regressive content all the time? Where is that balance? It's like in her shows leads are only there to suffer... Itna dukh toh real life me bhi nahi hota yaar... It's just 1 show hit ho jata hai & all are following the same trend without bothering about content...

Like what Star plus is doing... Almost every show is like 1 man- 2 girl or vice versa.. earlier too there was regressive content but not this much... This third angle trend ruined all the entertainment...

Wow...... okay... I agree regressiveness exists in society...but so does progressives..there are things in the society that are progressive and positive.. I get really pissed off when you straight up reinforcing regressiveness..in a way glorifying it...for your own selfish reasons and then blame society for that...

If you are doing something to excite the audience in order to watch a serial...at least claim responsibility for it...Is responsibility too much to ask for!!!

If I look at Jhanak... I can safely say that she is a good writer...in terms of creating characters...the way she sets up event and established the connection...but it is just sad that such a talented writer is nothing but timid in her approach..In stead of using this powerful medium to bring a positive change..she is showing regressiveness..

In fact why can't it be other way around? I believe these TV shows are equally responsible for regressiveness in society...

But I agree with you....It is not only silly but absolute lack of responsibility to say that what we are showing is the reflection of society....in fact I also agree that it is the other way around...TV ka content does great harm to the society...

It is naive to think that tv and what we read, what we watch, especially CONSISTANTLY over a great period of time, doesn't effect our outlook, thinking and behaviour even without us realising it.... .and I am admitting that I am a product of all the movies I have watched and books I have read...

Indian television serials are unstoppably portraying the regressive roles of women. The popular notion ‘sangsar sukher hoi ramanir gune’ (the bliss of the household rests in the hands of the women) is not just a Bengali saying, it is infact the roots of Indian familial culture where the women of the house is granted the central position for her liminality. However, many popular TV serials are upholding and propagating these notions that are unfortunately blocking the path of socio-culture upliftment. Claiming of globalization and modernization where our government system is attempting to emancipate the marginalized women in our society, it seems totally ironical to see the contemporary TV serials projecting women more as models in Indian attires, all decked up in jewelry and responsible for the welfare of their husband and his family.

They are Creating Stereotypes: the Ideal women & the Bad Women

Each serial portrays how an ‘ideal’ woman should behave when myriad responsibilities are put upon her, be it in maintaining the happiness of her household, taking care of the children or solving problems that arise within the family. The typical portrait of a woman in Indian Television (TV) serials is nothing but of a perfect wife, perfect mother and perfect daughter-in-law who showers love on all her loved ones and is an icon of purity and devotion for the audience. She has to sacrifice and compromise everything for her family, even she doesn’t wants to.....

I can't imagine ...a woman in her 50s and 60s watching these shows, and expecting her daughter in law to be like Tulsi, Ishita or Jhanak....like how unrealistic it is! How unfair it is for the newly wed bahu... I have personally seen a lot of example regarding this...

lol this is simply laughable ! I am sorry I really need to know what kind of society does she live in that goes above and beyond to torment a woman after coming to know she is wife of their son ?! What rubbish !

And what is this about keeping audience in mind ? I am sorry but that is simply not true given we all are just beyond frustrated with the show. Regressive ? No what she is showing is unrealistic…
