Both are waiting for the other to take the initiative. In my mind its Ani's family and his fiance and his wedding, so it should be him making the decision, without it needing J's agreement

Somewhere J still thinks whatever Ani says he will go always go back to Arshi and they will never break their marriage.

I would assume he said it, because he thought this is what J would want to hear, that he will stay true to his promise with Arshi and this would kinda coax her to come to BH.

The very next day, when they reach BH, and his mission is successful in bringing J in BH, he attempts to tell J his dil ki baat, he tells her he is suffocated, to hear what in return? YOU MUST NIBHAO YOUR PROMISE TO BE WITH ARSHI DIDI?! DON't MUKRO NOW FROM YOUR PROMISE!

Ani has been kiddish before, he turns kiddish again - toh chalo ab jhelo PDAs!

P.S. - The real reason why J came to BH, was two fold - she gives a sh** about her own self respect, Sirji's life and health is of utmost priority! And she was shocked with the impact her words had on him ! It has caused a downward spiral back during the accident time and this time as well!
