Yeah. Makers know how ppl adore Rahul. Maybe that's why this convo was kinda soft blow to show Ani-J is still endgame, while keeping the options open for Rahul to come back in J's life in the future. ( not sure why they need to do that)

I hope he comes back and this time we get proper closure. I would hate for this to be the last Kashmir track. Though if it is so... I also understand.
