The precap is an edited one, as you can see Jhanak was crying, so he must have told this after almost surrendering, since he's teary-eyed too.

I'm feeling some positivity after the Apu and Ani scene, where he could have diverted Apu di's mind, but instead, he promised her wholeheartedly ❤️

I feel sad for Ani too, as he's really devastated at that time. 😢

Jhanak knows Anirudh has deep likings for her but you are right since Ani never bothered to clear Arshi’s matter to Jhanak then how can she claims her rights on him? Her hesitation is legit. Ye banda kuch samajta hai bhi ya nahe? And why hasn’t he recalled about confessing his love for Jhanak?

Even if it was, the narrative at that time was they married due to compulsion and people were on the side of the Arshi anyways as they had known for long Ani and she were dating with intent to marry. Ani seems to be quite popular with the padosis too. (I know I know... his face )

This time he has to willingly declare J is his wife and his only wife to prevent any scope for Tejas to follow through.
