Maybe but sometimes I also feel Mohit is very chilled out in his role and maybe it's like this intentionally. No special focus on his character so he could do other things as well.

But then it doesn't make sense since he is partner of protagonist.

Mohit deliberately signed up for a supporting character so he is getting what he is signed up for. Upar se he is paid well or satisfied with his pay. To chilled hi hoga na...plus even though he never had any role in core story....us hisaab se Neil's popularity is good amongst online audience. So mohit don't have anything to lose.

Honestly speaking, I am a veryyyy firm believer of, YOUR WORK speaks, your character speaks, your behaviour speaks.... I get very positive vibes from Mohit, he never pretends, either he shows the raw himself or avoids showing up at all so yeah it's all come together and pays him well professionally
