Okay, I am back... back again... to write my thoughts for the episode after a very toxic one yesterday...

The theme for the episode: Unrequited dreams.

The episode starts with the toxic convo from yesterday... Jhanak's reply about who she will think for besides Avinash ji triggers Ani to the extreme...

"Dokebaaz ho tum, Chalbaaz ho, Beimaan ho, tumse agar ek percent ki bhi loyalty hothi na tum Rahul ke saath aisa nahi karthi...."

Rain of insults starts again, Ani really doesn't have control over hurt and anger.... these words are gonna bite him in the ass later. Oh Btw, Rahul=Ani... keycode solved in Ani's cryptic speeches.

"Rahul aur mere beech mein Dakhal maat dijiye"

Jhanak, you're not wrong... but you're not exactly helping your case.

Dakha doonga mein, mere ankhon se dekha meine... sirf uski vajam se mein tumhe yahan la paya..."

Babe, I get you are being realistic here... but words are powerful. You just need to speak the right ones to the right person. Phir dekho kya hoga...

Sensing no end to this conversation, Jhanak tries to remove herself from the position of the instigator and asks him to leave since it'll be problematic if someone sees them together alone before marriage. Ani retorts back, but before he can finish his sentence Jhanak faints and we have a hug(?) and a lamba eyelock.

Yahan ye sab ho raha hai, downstairs our anti-hero Tejas Babu arrives in Swag with people howling around him...

Mujhe yeh howling sound samajh mein nahi aati! Tamil movies mein to this sound only comes when there is some serious ritual going in the temple or some animal is being sacrificed. Maybe the context is right since Jhanak is the Bali ka bhakra

Tammi feeds him sweets and neighbors find it odd that dhula is covered with shera... SK and Tanuja pale and give some excuse that it's a ritual yada yada yada...

My mind resonates with Chamchi no.2 Mimi: "Ye dhuleraja, ek jhalak to dikha dijiye...zaa hatao na please!!"

Tejas has all the hype, Dil kush kardiya banda ne aaj Basu badi aakar.

Upstairs, Appu di comes and sees the two hugging. She asks what they are doing, and Jhanak tells her she is weak from fasting, Ani chimes along and scolds her.

"Aur rakho vrat Avinash ke liye... hai aur health achi hojayegi tumhari..."

Babu... Ani Babu. Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon??

Appu di then proceeded by Jhanak was hugging Ani. Was it because she won't see him again? This in turn only prompts Jhanak to look at Ani for a reaction, only a silent eye conversation ensues in return. She explains to Appu di that Ani helped her while she was fainting.

"Mujhe chakkar aa raha tha, aur Sir ji bacha liya, isse zayada kuch nahi"

The way her head nodded minutely to Appu di and Ani. She is convincing them and also herself that there is nothing more to this action...

Idhar, Would-be sasurs are talking to each other. Shubho is super happy that a stone is being lifted from his heart. Vinayak replies because Jhanak is getting married and Shubo goes on a rant again, blaming Jhanak for everything. As usual. But I liked how Vinayak Chachu supported Jhanak...

"Jitna mein samja hoon na Jhanak ko, wo bilkul aisa nahi hai... sabne apni tareeke se usse galat samjha hai zaroor"

True. Very true.. Thank you, Chachu.

Shubo just insists that he is happy now Ani-JK can get married. Whatever rasam it is gets over... finally. Dhule raja ko andar to Ane dho...

Upstairs scolding session continues... Ani scolds Jhanak and insists she take some food, but Jhanak refuses.

"Lagta hain tumhe shaadi karna ka bahot jaldi hai... Arey dulhe ko aane tho do"

Phir se... okay. I don't know what to say. Whatever Jhanak does now only irritates him. Bhala Jhanak kya kare??

Jhanak stubbornly refuses to eat food, which makes Ani even angrier...

"Acha, rakhlo vrat! continue karo... Abhi se ache orders follow karne wali biwi bano. Kyunki yahi tumari pehchan ho, Avinash ki wife... uski patni. Meri blessing tumhare saat hai Jhanak. Sorry.. Jhanak nahi, Avinash ki wife. "

Look at yourself man, you are crying while saying this... how will it not hurt her? Hitting her where it hurts the most. Tum bhi akhir tumhari family ki tarah unki pehchan mita diya... jaye wo sahi ya galat. Not done Ani, it's a low blow man. Alfazzon ko teer ki tarah istamal karke Jhanak ki dil pe nishana chod diya... Unki kimat tum baad mein bhukdoge.

Saying this, he angrily walks out with tears streaming from his reddened eyes. Appu di and Jhanak huddle with tears in their eyes at the prospect of Jhanak's departure.

Their conversation ended in the ugliest way possible, hurting each other because they were hurt by the other. Ani said the cruelest words he could spare for Jhanak, whether he did it because he wanted to tear off any semblance of ties between them, selfishly or selflessly. Things have been said and done. For all intents and purposes, this is probably their last conversation.

Kudos to Krushal for showing hurt, concern, anger, disappointment, acceptance... I loved him today!

He meets Chotton outside who comments he looks tired and asks about Jhanak leaving immediately after the marriage. Ani replies in the affirmative.

"Haan.. shaadi ka kam mein kar raha hoon, organize mein kar raha hoon... sab kuch teek hai ya nahi... sabh kuch meri responsibility hai, isliye taka taka lag raha hoga.."

Zimmedar ki beta.

Chotton then asks him if he'll be able to sleep... Ani ka answer to dekho

"Haan Chotton, neend aa jayegi, ek baar shadi katam, phir kaam katam... phir sab chale jayenge, tension bhi nahi rahegi... sapce bhi hoga. Aise meri room mein to koi sone ke liye nahi aane wala... to mein ache se soungi"

Denial. Denial of the highest order.

Chotton tho Ani ka teacher/mentor/naap hai inn sab cheezon mein. He is not believing it. Ani gets confused and comments that Chotton speaks in riddles these days. Chotton is concerned for his nephew and unka dil to mom hai.. keh bina reh nahi pata. So he tries probing Ani's state of mind once again... and asks him to be happy and come down stairs. Ani says he is happy and shows off how he is dressed. Chotton only has words of wisdom for him...

"Ani ye sab na bahar ka dikhawa hai... admi andar se kush nahi hona... dil mein utal putal ho, wo jitna bhi ache kapde pehnele... udaas hi diktha hai. Agar Admi andar se kush ho na, wo kya pehnta hai use koi farak nahi padta... wo kush hi dikhta hai..."

Ani retorts that Chotton has now become a philosopher. Chotton replies back that his nephew has made him one. True dat. 100% He asks Ani to come down. Ani doesn't want to though.

"Shadi ho ya na ho, meri jaane ki kya zaroorat hai??"

"Apne haato se usse shaadi karwa raha hai na? Dekhega nahi?"

"Nahi."

"Ya dekh nahi payega?"

"Kya matlab hai apka?"

"Shayad Jhanak ko shaadi karte hue tumhe pasand na aaye?"

"Kyun Chotton, aisa kyun bhol rahe ho aap?mein to chahta hoon uska shaadi hojaye"

"Kabhi kabhi insaan ko patha hi nahi hota ki usse kya chahta hai... mein janta ta ki tum chathe the ki ye shaadi hojaye tha ki Jhanak iss janjat se door ho, lekin ab jab shaadi ho raha hai, tum usse khush nahi ho..."

"Chotton mujhe isilye acha nahi lag raha hai kyunki wo career explore karne bagair housewife banne ja rahi hai"

"Point ye nahi Ani, ki tumhe kya acha nahi lag raha hai.... point ye hai ki tumhe acha nahi lag raha hai..."

What a conversation man! Ani's half-truths and denial is in plain view for Chotton and us to see. It is good that that Chotton is the one instigating the topic. Ani may think Chotton is slow of mind and try to distract the issue, but Chotton is also persevering, he won't stop. Aakhir wo hai tumhari Chotton na?? Like Uncle, like Nephew. Har kisi ko Ani ki hal pata hai sivai Ani ki... kinda sad.

Chotton again asks him to come down and leaves.... letting Ani contemplate. The ensuing silence in itself is an answer for Ani.

Idhar, Mimi and Laal do something useful and come to get Jhanak who is sitting and talking with Appu. Appu is mad these people are hurrying things up and not letting her spend time with Jhanak. Laal's facial expressions are like swollen puri... Jhanak faints again... as JK arrives upon SK's advice.

Appu tho like the good kid she is phodos the truth. JK gets mad and insecure, and Jhanak patiently explains what happened. These people are so mean... asking a bhimar dhulan to explain and justify.

"Humesha insecure rehte hain aap.."

Jk in a single line.

Anyways.. they go down. Jhanak is brought on a plank carried by men... her face obscured by leaves as Humesha tumko chaha from Devdas plays. Cue, our Ani Babu/Devdas is clicking pictures and is the photographer for the day...

Ani's heart is heavy as Jhanak comes in the plank her face obscured.... full of tears and memories past as his heart wails and his eyes redden. He moves away from the center, clicking pictures of the guests, obscuring and covering his face through the camera. To prevent others and Jhanak from reading his state.

These lines play as Jhanak slowly removes the leaves and looks straight into Ani's eyes.... her eyes have become dry from shedding all the sad tears and accepting her fate as the music that signifies her wedding rings in her ears... Her eyes now only want to convey one thing, which she couldn't say before, that the man she loved and worshipped is only him and will always be only him.... Ani's widened in surprise somehow understanding the sentiment despite no words spoken. Both have somehow arrived at the final stage of grief- Acceptance. Knowing this is it. It may be marriage for others... but it is only a death knell for them, their unspoken bond.

Special mention to the smart Padosis... ek dum sach bhola...

"Ghar ki maid gajab ki sundar ho, to dikhat nahi hogi??"

And Tammo, Rumi Gayab. Tammo ka to khana aur sona achi tarah se aata hai. But I still wonder if Tammi packed him upstairs...

Please, Bengali natives help me: Is the howling sound a part of the marriage rituals?? It makes me scared lol. I have only ever seen such sound in sacrifice rituals in temples in TN.
