I saw the episode and as you said, it confirmed all I said. Ani is only sticking to Arshi for himself. He doesn’t want to be in the wrong, the one who fell for another, the one whose smooth life left his control due to unexpected emotions. If I dare say, maybe Ani is also being aware of social status and doesn’t want to be the one who is crossing social lines - and it makes it worse that Jhanak is not yearning for him the way he thinks of her. So pride and self-righteousness combine to form this nonsense attitude. Ani is hypocritical and wants to maintain his facade even if it means he will be sad forever. He will only move forward the day he realizes that one cannot measure the degree of sadness or pain in a life without someone who makes you miserable. I forgot to say it, but it’s interesting how if Arshi and Ani do marry, it won’t be Jhanak who will suffer. Maybe she would (if she loves him and knows it) but it won’t be as bad as Arshi because Jhanak will know Ani made the choice himself and live her life after some time. Arshi will suffer. Because Ani, after some time from Jhanak, will start feeling resentful. And as I said before, Ani and even his family has tendencies to expose their true colors when they feel unsatisfied. Even Ani only does good things to the extent they benefit him. Even his help for Appu is centered on the fact that seeing her happy makes him happy. How is that strange, you ask? It’s not - it just shows that Ani has never done good stuff that didn’t appeal to him in some way. The family he grew up in, because it is majorly filled with snakes, do well to tell him how kind and innocent and softhearted he is. With this type of programming, even the faintest good thing is to live up to that reputation. Helping Jhanak was to ease his conscience and by the time they had a ride together, there were hints that he was already growing fond of her. His intentions changed but not too much. Right now, helping Jhanak is solely because of his feelings for her - none of which Arshi has now. When he married arshi, and starts feeling resentful, he will make her life hell and his family will follow. We know when Ani wants to be an asshole, he goes big. And worse if Jhanak is successful and rich, Ani will blame his family because in the end they drove Jhanak to the point she hates him (and maybe acknowledge his wrongs A BIT) and his family will blame Arshi for making them blind to the real treasure daughter in law 🤣🤣
