While no one actress dominated the decade, Rani Mukherjee stood apart from her contemporaries by giving big hits like Bunty Bubli, Saathiya & Hum Tum on her own accord(with new/b list stars) rather than playing a supporting part in big films like most actresses back then were doing. Also had brilliant performances with Black being the best of the decade.

Preity had the most box office success & major blockbusters but it was mostly driven by a big star. Aishwariya/Kareena were also rans. By the end of the decade Katrina the hit machine had pretty much taken over.

Most of these are 90s actresses blending into the 2000s… Ash b/c she was at her the top then & b/c she is eternal, and Kareena.

Contrary to what the hatersskeptics might say, I believe that she can act. Aishwarya is the queen of period dramas. let's also not forget her delightful performances in rom-coms like Taal, Dil ka Rishta, and HDAPH. She's a treat to watch when the movie is well done.

Aishwarya as a brand is too powerful. Not everyone needs a kaleidoscope of 50 movies to make a splash. a handful of quality performances is all it takes for people to recognize their talent and onscreen charm.

So my vote firmly goes to Aishwarya.

Apart from that, I love the second half of Rani's filmography. The first half is too nauseating for my liking.

Kareena, too, is likeable in my opinion these days. although I admit, I couldn't stand her in the first half. But today I appreciate her initial days too, especially in contrast to the SoBo nepo babies we're stuck with now.
