They do zero justice in the romance part. Chalo I understand if they didn't want to show any romance in general. But they show Ayra & Zaid romance which is so off with zero chem. For a moment, it's also ok if they don't show anything btw Zaid & MJ. May be they wanted to just show that Zaid is with Ayra and wanted to show the slow build up of Zaid & MJ but they aren't executing that properly as well..
the Zaid Ayra romance is more tenderness/comfort and thereās definitely an audience for that. People dig it so I wonāt begrudge Badar those scenes. Especially if the Zaid MJ track isnāt in momentum, it makes sense to throw the audience some crumbs here and there. Not to mention Wahaj was hired so why not make the most of the romance when you can.
The problem is that the Zaid and MJ track is TOO slow of a burn lol. At least for me. And its execution. We donāt even get a proper turning point or scene where itās shown that MJs feelings towards Zaid have changed. When she declared she loved him in the wedding reception episode I was like WHAT? A much better scene for such a moment would have been that bedroom scene where Zaid comes to hang out with her and sheās in disbelief. Her declaring it so publicly before kind of cheapens the real vulnerabile scene of MJ later on. So a lot of the big turning points are just left to our imagination and assumptions you know? One moment itās about winning the game for MJ and the next moment sheās having feelings? For someone who was nothing but horrible to her? When was the turning point for her?
The other issue is Zaids feelings and actions towards MJ being a result of how Ayra is treating him. I feel that also cheapens the Zaid Mj love story a bit because it makes Mj seem like the other āoptionā. I would love for Zaid to have original thoughts about Mj without any of it being related to whatās going on between him and Ayra.
Another thing that doesnāt help the story is the constant background scheming Mj does. Yes itās hella entertaining but it comes at the cost of the audience assessing if her feelings for Zaid are genuine. Because obviously she doesnāt care enough to hurt the person he currently cares about the most. So the intentions are a bit messy which makes it confusing.
Lastly, itās just too little too late š¤¦š»āāļø The slowest burn in the history of burns lol. I know these Turkey episodes are ātheir momentā but once again Iām afraid if all of it will just be Zaid reacting to Ayra ignoring him.
These are all, like you said, problems in the āexecutionā of the Zaid MJ story. It doesnāt seem organic but rather situational / influenced. Still, Iām curious to see how things will move ahead.
