Abhimanyu was taking care of Abheera even before she was born, even though she became the indirect reason of him not getting married to his love. Never had I'll feelings towards the child and always considered the child as Abhinav's kid, unlike someone else who took away his that right as well.

So yeah he was the Godfather, otherwise Akshara would have taken another rash decision of aborting her favourite Abhinav's nishani for Abhimanyu's nishani.

Abhimanyu proved his worth, and his character stayed intact (Thanks to HC taking stand). Otherwise favouritism was on its peak in the writer's corner.

People just have WD against Abhi, and the conveniently ignore that he was dealing with Neil's and his children's death too, along with his mother in a very bad mental state and Arohi pregnant with Neil's kid.

Anyway, few people not acknowledging him won't change the fact that he made amends with everyone before his death except his own mother, because of Akshara and Abheera.
