Sooo watched it, idk where to actually post my thoughts but spoilers would be there so here I am
South directors really know how to present their lead, I am in awe. The movie kinda was a like a fanservice, the way Ranbir looked walked it was so smooth and swag filled, never though he can pull off something so massy. Especially that scene with lungi kurta red shoe and machine gun/scooter lmao batshit crazy yet so suave..same with the scene where he walks in with his gang to kill Varun (I was so happy sid was there!!) And he turns to his men, cigerette in hand. His acting was great too, the rage the pain the simmering psycho nature it was done very well.
If part 2 is coming which I feel 50-50 chance (with no happy ending) tripti should have more role, here she had less role and was a means for tharki janta. She looked great though. Rashmika looked great too, i didn't expect her screentime being that much but nice to see. What they should have done was to show more of lord Bobby, introduce him around interval and set up the tension there. Even Anil was underutilized, he was in the background but didn't really had that gravita. Shakti Kapoor!! Didn't expect him wow he was good. He was the actual father Vijay had.
Now onto stuff I was really interested in- internet is up in arms about 4 pads for women and Ranbir characters obsession when other things are left. I don't think ranvijay is glorified, but there is no loss for him after everything he's done. Yeah he cries in last scene and has ton of health issues, his mental health is gone and he will never be at peace, but is that actually enough when you watch his journey from teenager to adult? There are some obvious scenes where writing trolls itself, like ranvijay saying about alpha male and how old times women used to chose men in same line, and rashmika later throws it on his face obviously in an ironic funny scene. How he's like I love only you and then sleep with another girl and in his head it's fine cause that's for his dad. How he hurts his wife and then tend to her wounds and she's like i always thought how you will care for me if some goons hurt me. How she tries to help him and he taunts her with aeroplane sex talks saying that's abnormal. How his wife wants to divorce him but next scene they have sex, none is happy but they won't leave each other. Rashmika defends him cause they were all alone in usa, he helped during childbirth so it's kinda is her duty to bear his tantrums for father, but she's also exhausted and broken inside. None is glorified, it's sad situation all around. If someone is taking anything positive from all these please go see a psych you are crazy bruh.
The last scene was hopeful with the kid running to him, so it's like a cycle broken where he will be more lovable to his kid than his dad ever was. But ranvijay didn't deserve it. And of course his wife will be there. And baby girl was so cute awwie.
Regarding ranvijays daddy issues, on surface level it's like he's no special why he's so crazy after the old man. But that home is such a twisted place. In teenage ranvijay is like I am man of family after you, who does that? His mom has to stay quiet as his father yells at her. The sister is fine with her husband physically abusing her. That's a toxic abusive place no wonder he's fcked in head too. His obsession with his dad is also deep hatred. He wants his approval, also hates he won't love him like he wants him to. It's something universal i feel, but not machine gun scooter level 🤣
All in all interesting movie with good acting bgm and stylish cinematography. Also if anyone wants to take offense let it be Punjabis.
Also that bro of lord Bobby I have seen the guy somewhere can't remember.
