Just watched the trailer, and I have some mixed feelings.

The Good:

1) Ranbir playing against the type of his manchild/romantic image. It might turn out to be game-changer for him.

2) Looks like Ranbir's character will have a background story, which will probably explain most of the issues with him.
3) The Songs, cinematography and background score ...everything is of good quality.

4) Bobby Deol.smiley10 Looking forward to his role and performance.

The Bad:
1) Glorification of violence, and obsessive love most likely.

2) Ranbir's wig looks hilariously bad in some scenes.

2) Rashmika is a miscast. I understand she can't speak Hindi, but even her expressions are bad.smiley8

3) Since it's a Vanga film, misogyny is a given. Women will be portrayed as nothing but doormats.

Well, I've the feeling that Ranbir's role still is that of a 'manchild' (and not of a mature man)...he is stuck in the toxic relationship with his father...and it seems that his father even isn't aware anymore of everything he did wrong with his son so that his son is consumed by the impossibility to grow out of the inferiority feeling (my impression). The only thing that grows is frustration and the need to venture it through violence and other macho manners.

The son can't win his father's recognition/praise, can't punish him, can't forgive him...and then will die as the ultimate 'punishment' to his father (who still may not be aware what exactly he did wrong)...and the mother???

I certainly will read the movie's story.

The trailer is quite out there and definitely very interesting. I think RKs performance looks awesome in this. He is going to grab all the popular awards this year (Vicky will take the critics ones for Sam Bahadur)

Rashmika was so cringey though. She is quite bad at acting it seems (was intolerable in that Amitabh Bachchan movie).

Director seems to be creating his own Toxicoverse

First the toxic relationship with your girl in Kabir Singh. Now with dad. Next maybe with mom, grandpa, chachu, Nani...

.definitely super intense and this looks like a money spinner for blood curdling psycho action fans…but Again I hate Vanga Reddy and whatever his thought process is, it’s so dangerous..like someone said he needs help..NOW! Also Ranbir has done something different for a change…an angry man child smiley32 Rashmika was so bad lol..I like the BGM ..rest everything whatever!! No comments smiley44

I haven't watched the trailer..I can't watch violent films.Never going to watch Jawan. I don't know what KGF is about..havent even watched the trailers. One look of Yash was enough to show me his swag.

There is huge market for action films..It will open very well.I wish RK didn't address his father as Papa..It sounds so childish.I also want to know, if there is a larger purpose for all that mayhem..

To be larger than life..the hero has to fight for a larger cause..a larger purpose. Was Anil's character, the wronged one?If the film is well made like Godfather,it will connect with people, even if it is just gang rivalry.

Is it not possible for SRK to get an award for Dunki or Jawaan?

From what I've watched until now, Ranbir's character is shown as the wronged one (but maybe his father got wronged by the own father etc.) ... and the movie will be - imo - shown from the perspective of this (emotionally) badly treated son.

I think, even his love-life and his own role as a father will be spoiled by the father-son relation.

At least, at one point, the son rebels...but I've the feeling that doesn't last.

Just to imagine what - emotionally/pychologically - goes on in the son...it's depressing.

I suppose that SRK won't get a Filmfare award (maybe a nomination)... for more than one reason...

This film has potential if the material has been handled well. 👍

Not sure if a Gangster can be labelled as a manchild. The character definitely has issues though, and he is clearly abusive towards his wife.

There seem to be no "relationship" with his father actually. The father seems oblivious of what has gone wrong with son.

So, whatever it is....it seems to be one-sided.

What I liked in the trailer is that there will be a background story to Ranbir's character, which will (hopefully) provide some explanation and justification to his character.

But since its a Vanga film, everything wrong will be "glorified".
