Here's an update from Vijay Tagore, our correspondent, from the stadium: "Although the conditions are not exactly overcast, the ground staff has kept the pitch covered. The Indian team has arrived at the ground, and Hardik Pandya is seen running around it. A cyclone alert is active in neighboring Mumbai as a storm is developing in the Arabian Sea, but no rain is expected in Pune today. Consequently, there were a few slight raindrops in Pune last night, but the match should proceed without interruption. Currently, there are no crowds in the stands, which remain largely empty. However, there is still ample time before the match starts, and a full house is expected. The Indian team has included Mohammed Shami in the final 12, increasing the likelihood of the veteran player's participation."

"The cover has come off and the Indian team just had a close look at it. Shakib is near the pitch now, an indication that he could be playing today. Leading today in fact," informs Vijay.

Mustafa Moudi: "Talking about the India-Bangladesh Rivalry, for me the most memorable match was their encounter in 2012 Asia Cup where Sachin Tendulkar finally got his 100th Century but Bangladesh ended up on the winning side!!"

Nayem: "I think Bangladesh is capable of doing well in this game though India is hot favorites to win this World Cup. For winning this match, Bangladesh has to produce 120 percent of its capability." -- And they need runs on the board. Batting has been a bit of an issue for Bangladesh so far, while India's bowling has been irresistible.

India, undeniably, are in red-hot form, as Mohammad Isam notes in his preview. They held their nerve against Australia before clinically dispatching Afghanistan's challenge in Delhi. They then demolished Pakistan in front of a record crowd in Ahmedabad, with their batting looking in fine fettle.

Their bowling, though, has been the decisive tilting scale in almost all of their games so far. Australia and Pakistan could not cross 200. While Afghanistan got past that barrier, they fell well short of putting up a par or above-par total.

Bangladesh, in contrast, have a few flaws to iron out. They seem to have gotten around the Tamim Iqbal retirement/non-selection/exclusion to-and-fro, but now have to contend with an injury cloud over their skipper Shakib Al Hasan.

Their batting has blown hot and cold too, with Mushfiqur Rahim perhaps the only bright and consistent spark so far. The bowling, with Shakib not quite fully fit against the Kiwis, seemed to lack bite, and those resources will be tested again, especially on a Pune track that has been conducive to stroke-making in recent times.
