Temba Bavuma: I do think 311 was a couple over par, probably 290-300 was par. I guess I’m glad we lost the toss because we wanted to chase as well. I was scratchy with the bat, found it hard but Quinton (de Kock) needs to be given credit for the way he played. I think I’d be really greedy if I said there are things we can improve. It was almost the perfect game. The bowlers bowled really well, they have been under some slap but looking at all the phases, I think the guys really dominated. I’ll take that as our second game. Need to acknowledge the batting effort, the bowling effort was all about being clinical. Lungi (Ngidi) taking the new ball and KG (Rabada) showing intensity is what we’re looking for. In our team, character is the biggest thing we’ve spoken about. You can’t overlook the good work we’ve done, let's take the confidence and learnings. Let's celebrate it and come back for the next one.

There we have it then, a grand win for South Africa, they move right up to the top of the table and have already built up a healthy NRR to complement the two wins they've got. They might've come in to the tournament and snuck under the radar but they are very much on it now and are looking like strong contenders. The story couldn't be more different for Australia. They simply haven't been themselves in this tournament thus far. A big defeat the other night to India and their biggest ever defeat in World Cups tonight means that they slump down to 9th place - just barely floating over Afghanistan on NRR. That's it from us here tonight. We've got New Zealand taking on Bangladesh in Chennai tomorrow

Prashant: "From 1992 to 2015, South Africa was almost always considered on paper the team to beat, always packed with top players, but never completely matched the hype and gained a 'choker' tag. This world cup, it did not feature in top 4 teams of many, but might end up surprising all by not only being in top 4, but even ending up as a winner or a runner up." Indeed, they are happily under the radar, and seem all the happier for the lack of expectation going in... right now, they are high-fliers.

So, it's played two won two for South Africa, who are top of the pile on NRR after a pair of crushing displays against Sri Lanka and Australia, +2.36 to lead a cast of four teams with 100 percent records. It's a brilliant, composed start to a below-the-radar campaign, and with the Netherlands next up, they'll surely believe that can only get better before England swim into their sights in what already promises to be a gripping encounter in Mumbai next Saturday.

As for Australia, they are looking down the barrel already. Minus 1.85 NRR, and only Afghanistan below them, whom they don't play until the penultimate round of the group stage. Next up, a must-win against Sri Lanka, whose batting at least has looked ten times as proactive as this line-up. Troubling times for the serial world champions.

I can not forget the scene when S.A. lost to N.L. in the semifinals, A.B.D was sitting on the floor and crying so badly then the wining captain of N.Z L . came and gave his hand to get up and was consoling him because he was the Born and brought up In the South Africa but was playing for N.Z. Some of these type of moments you cant forget .

South Africa's Quinton de Kock, who announced in September his decision to retire from ODIs after the World Cup, said that he felt the format was “quite tiring” for the last couple of years. “I'm sure a lot of guys love the format. I'm not going to speak on behalf of everyone.
