Sometimes I think Neil's mom is still alive and has been kidnapped by Shobhana or DB to keep Vidur silent all these years.

Neil may have witnessed his mom get an attack when Vidur was arrested and the doctors (bought off by dadi) would have lied that his mom died, he was a small kid anyway.
