Ugh, so tired of these comments. Firstly, what if he is queer? You want to out him and have him say it on a loudspeaker? Secondly, what’s strictly queer and cannot possibly be heterosexual? Gucci jackets and bright yellow designer tees?he can’t dance to a dola re but women are OK to dance to a Malhari no questions asked? Wish we stopped having an issue with everything in 2023 man.

Ranveer was playing character in RARKPK and Padmavaat. He was not involved in script writing or direction. This post is long but doesn’t make any sense.

Ranveer gets mixed reactions on his dressea and scenes.

Cis het males, especially ones who think they are some alpha or sigma, totally blast him and call him simp and 'chakka' or whatnot. I am not gonna repeat other slurs they use for him.

He was bashed for wearing a lehenga or skirt at a fashion show some years ago.

There is a joke on social media that he wears Deepika's clothes or steals her wardrobe.

Many progressive sites, LGBTQIA social media outlets endlessly debate his dressing sense and roles. Some think he has redefined traditional masculinity. Others think he appropriates queer culture or made them a caricature or does antics to increase fanbase among queer, gay, bi, trans communities.

He has been a subject of several debates.

I am not sure if he always gets a positive feedback and if his intention is genuine in ways he chooses to dress or roles he chooses or gender fluid dresses, dances and scenes he does try to attempt.

But he did choose to do those characters right?

He did not reject them.

Other stars have never played bisexual or gender fluid roles.

Except maybe Rajkumar, Manoj, Ashutosh, Ayushmaan, Sanjay Suri etc.

Or among women Shabana, Nandita, Smita, Bhumi etc.

Ranveer has sparked a debate on social media after his latest film.

This is why I asked here.

Otherwise one can dance to anything they want. Or dress any way they want.

Their life is their choice.

But a section of queer, bi, gay, trans et al, people sort of disliked Ranveer and Ayushmaan, Rajkumar for appropriating their aesthetic so I wondered if it was indeed an issue and actors nowadays appropriate this aesthetic to look cool, progressive or woke?

That 'lehenga/skirt' was made for men, so why can't he wear it? Ranveer has made it clear that he does not take clothes from deepikas wardrobe, but if people want to still joke that he does that then how is that his fault?

His fashion has been a subject of debate because no other male celeb has worn the fashion he has dared to wear, some may like it and some may not, but atleast he has opened up a whole new set of possibilities for mens fashion in india.

And so its to do with male fashion, its not to do with LGBTQ, wearing pink or patterns isn't appropriating queer culture

I meant a lot of stuff on hygiene, skin quality etc and it was about both genders (especially skin quality).

Also it is a fact desi men have begun to focus on looks only in last 2 decades especially after likes of Hrithik, Salman, Tiger, John, Sunil, Akki etc made it huge and focused on own fitness, looks, dressing sense, grooming etc.

Otherwise the general notion here was that men's looks or fitness did not matter. And heroes in past did not bother either and often had visible wigs or paunch, looked like heroine's tauji but still romanced them.

Gyms, male fitness, grooming centres have sprung up only in last decade in India. It was not there earlier.

What is wrong in what I said about grooming, looks or hygiene? Or Indians generally looking older than actual age? Regardless of gender.

I do not want to keep clarifying same details repeatedly or deviate from topic.

The film isn't about LGBTQ tho, its about gender equality for both men and women. If people think its appropriating queer culture then they did not get what the movie was showing

Yeah people have an issue with everything nowadays. Too velle. How has Ayushmaan appropriated the queer aesthetic? By playing a character on screen? What’s next? Reema Lagoo appropriated the mum aesthetic? Kuch bhi.

If Ranveer went out of his way to avoid it wouldn’t that also cause an issue. If he said no to gay roles or a hint of gay roles I think some of the gay rights people would find that alarming as well
