I buy that she is sad her dad died which is fine but that’s it then it’s support time. My mumma for some reason loves all these regressive shows but she is super progressive and I would even call her a feminist. I guess it’s weird but I don’t have it in me to ask her why. She even watched that rishta show and don’t get me started on Anupama.

I am half Punjabi and half Gujarati. My mumma’s family are from Amritsar and Daddy’s family is originally from Rajkot in Gujarat. But I can understand Marathi and Bengali too as my brother in laws are from Mumbai and Kolkata respectively. My Hindi is intermediate and watching PTV shows taught me Urdu too. I am only fluent in Punjabi though as mumma never spoke to us in English or French she would talk to us in Punjabi and so we all are better at that than any other I guess. Are you a Punjabi as well?

I have supported her throught put the last jail khaand this time I am gonna bash her along with everyone isse baar nhi chada Tara😡. I would call these regressive shows our mother's guilty pleasure there is no other way too describe it 😆. Good thing my mother never got interest in Anupama. We watched Rishta show to but just till the singhania family was present the moment they singhania family went my mother stopped watching 🤣

Hello ji - thoanu mil ky khushi hoi, I can speak intermediate Hindi but my Punjabi is fluent though. My mother would think I committed a crime if I don't speak her language 😆 Gujarati on the other hand? she can't be bothered. She doesn't understand it that well herself so if I don't either, that's fine. Funny thing is my daddy can speak fluent Punjabi too hahahaha. Sangat ka asar. You from Amritsar too? Very very nice!

So did I - I supported her until now. Last time I gave her benefit of the doubt thinking chalo koi na she is acting like a typical sanskari 17th century behnji type in her 9 gaj ka ghagra but no more. This time I won't shy away from bashing her then I will quit the darn show, I don't want to watch the sad drama which is on SP everyday and it bores me frankly. She better support him this time after she is out of her shock - although her dad was an idiot and never understood her or trusted her. I mean what father believes a stranger and not his family? ITV needs to stop with their dumb plots at times.

Yeah must be her guilty pleasures. I can't stand Anupama and Rishta - thankfully apart from her no one else watches those shows. In fact its just her and me who watch Indian shows. My last show was Queen of South on Netflix and it was an amazing show. 5 seasons but they said upfront that this is more of a story of overcoming everything when nothing is right and a journey of the FL. So you get an idea that she isn't going to have a one true love until last couple seasons. The ML there was what you call a green one too even though he was a drug mule. The only time he was rude to her he told her that I am acting, but the other guy will r***e you so go along. They hooked up properly in Season 3 and she betrayed him by not trusting him and basically he had enough so he left and told her she needs to figure out what she wants and she wanted career. She even dated and hooked up with others, and grew her character. He leaves and comes back in Season 5 and then they lived happily. What I liked was there was no life long promise and I knew that is what story demands. Here I know story says DT so give me that - meko sada babaji aur uska sada shrap ni dekhna. Same goes with jail jail game - matlab kuch bhi ho seedha jail mein, the f***k is that?

Bold- Kanneda? 😃

Nice set of languages to know 😊- pretty much covers every place apart from South India.

Personally, I wouldn't term H/U as very different unless they opt for very specific vocab. D-T is one such rare show though- some of the 17th century vocab is even tough for me to get at first watch 😆

If you haven't seen it, Kohrra on Netflix might be a decent watch. Story set in Punjab. Has Barun Sobti (the reason I watched it in the first place). Sobti isn't the chief character through- Suvinder Vicky is, and there's a fair bit of Punjabi in it. If you've watched Udaariyaan, the Jass character from there is in Kohrra too.

In terms of storyline, slightly weak IMO (I guessed the twist in the first episode). But everyone is a grey character of sorts. Not exactly a very happy web series though, but fairly realistic. 2.5/5 for me; probably bumpable to 3 under certain circumstances. Made by the same PH (Anushka and her brother) which did Paatal Lok.

This user's thoughts on D-Ayesha (Twitter thread link below) aren't too dissimilar to mine 😆

BTW, one of the users in the replies has mentioned D said something on the lines of "tumhe na kehne ki chubhan mere dil mein bhi hai" 😲

Probably coz I didn't watch the earlier episodes with an eagle eye, but that's an interesting dialogue.
