It is unusual and unlikely for desis to have Tupac as a first crush. But I don't think it is impossible. Who knows what is in PC's mind? She does try extra hard and fake it often. But we will never know why she does it.
I don't think adults are exempt from peer pressure or the need to fit in. For example, many gay people make up heterosexual crushes when posed questions. Heck, I avoid naming female crushes depending on my company. Perhaps it is maladjustment. But a lot of it is self-preservation.
Many desis abroad do lie a lot or pretend to like things based on how it helps them assimilate in western communities. And depending on how open the community is the level of lies and pretenses varies. There's also probably hundreds of grown-ass Nolan bros in India who don't understand Nolan movies but pretend to love it because it makes them so sophisticated and intellectual.
@bold amuses me as a Swiftie. It's only the rise of Taylor Bros that makes this possible. Once upon a time, even white men would rather say they attended a Badshah concert rather than Taylor Swift. đ
Thanks for the sensible post, RTH. According to some, the gays and the immigrants trying to assimilate should âget their heads checkedâ.đhow dare they not be confident in their own skin, theyâre not kids/teens anymore dammit! Maybe answering Tupac and not some Indian celeb meant that she didnât have to have a 5 minute awkward conversation with a clueless American. Iâve never thought PC is otherwise ashamed of her Indian heritage. If anything, she flaunts it at every opportunity, so I guess this one âproblematicâ statement really isnât the end of the world for me.
As far as Nolan goes, hume toh Inception abhi tak samajh nahi aaya re baba.đ¶
