I don't have the exact answer... But a friend of mine is one of two Muslim siblings and they both have different surnames... It has something to do with family names.. One of them uses her mother's family name as surname, the other uses her father's... There are some rules for it but its so complicated that i forgot as soon as she explained it to me.
