I guess it was to enhance the tragic effect of Sai's life. She's imagining that everything has become fine. The hijack problem is over. Exactly. That's what other shows do. Show a happy reunion and then a tragic end for the lead pair. But yes, Vankar always wants to be different.
They would have lost nothing in fact people would have been curious to see what happens to their children.
Plus, they would've got good will for the next gen leap.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have a few dream sequences and / or conscience sequences planned out to keep the Sairat factor on the radar post leap.
