Alia has always seemed too desperate to win over Kapoors which reflects in her over praising of Kareena, accompanying RK, Neetu, Riddhima everywhere, attending events with Kapoors or being at their home, considering 8 her lucky number because it was RK's lucky number etc.

She has simped for RK in a way she never did for any other BF she may have had.

Overall, I get the Kapoor Khandaan's historical relevance in Bollywood and all. But Rishi Kapoor's violence, abuse, and womanizing have been known. So I do not really get their prestige. No one in their family belongs to politics. So you can not say they have power in terms of calling any shots. Unlike the Bachchans who have all sorts of political connections. Again what network? That network could not help Karishma make it big right away. Nor did it help Kareena avoid a flop phase. Even Ranbir has encountered a flop phase.

In terms of property or money that comes? I do not feel there might be much left.

One thing is people form power couples to become a team of stardom. Ranveer and Deepika are more powerful as a couple than individually. Same thing with Vicky and Katrina. He is the more happening star at the moment. She has a legacy behind her that will always count her as one of the biggest stars of her time. Aloo might have also wanted RK in order to be a power couple. Still, you are degrading yourself when you have to baby trap someone who might not want to be with you. Ranbir was the only star left from the generation. She dated Sid but he was no rising star at the time. I think in terms of rising together. Kiara and Sidharth have managed to do that beautifully. And they continue to have affairs on the side. I am sure Ranbir no matter who he married always wanted an open marriage. So what difference does it make who he married?

Lol yes. The BW First Family tag all but went away once the Bachchans came into focus. The Kapoors wealth is also vastly over-stated. Before RK, they didn’t have anywhere as much as people imagine, allegedly. They also don’t really have political connections as you rightly said, as the Bs do.

The Kapoors ride on BW nostalgia + Golden surname, but effectively, the First Family of BW are the Bachchans. I’ve been saying this since years on this forum so am glad there’s someone else who thinks so too! 😆

Since then there is a prestige associated with them.

I think violence or womanizing or drinking does not matter to Alia as her own family was dysfunctional AF and her sisters, dad are all known to be alcoholic, depressed or having temper issues and volatile nature. Her dad was a very difficult man. So I guess she is just used to it.

I mean if you are daughter of Mahesh Bhatt then why would you be shocked by behaviour of Rishi Kapoor?

Attaching self to legacy or dynasty is still a fetish for many Indians who would tolerate ANYTHING to be related to a famous family, even if they have been 'has beens'. I mean look at all pride Twinkle Khanna has till date. She derives it from being daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia though Rajesh is long dead and was a spent force by late 70s itself. And Akshay also married her or does not 'control' or dominate her much because of legacy. He agreed to give Khanna surname as middle name to his daughter precisely for legacy reasons besides flaunting himself as a feminist (though he is not that progressive).

Legacy and brand name or big khandaan matter a lot to Indians. It is also a prime reason for tolerating any abuse or going to any length or simping hard or often paying even hefty dowry just to marry a rich and famous person or become ghar jamai or even pretend to change own values for sake of big khandaan. They will be feminist or trad or whatever just to relate to a famous person or khandaan.

There is a reason why Kangana whines so much against nepotism or was desperate to get in relation with some star kid or wreck homes of married stars. Or likes of Fatima are willing to have a man of dad's age like Aamir being their sugar daddy.

No one leaves a chance to marry up or marry powerful or well connected person if they have the opportunity to do so.

Sid Kiara are not as much of a power couple as they do not belong to hyped khandaans.

I think only Varun has shown interest to marry someone not from showbiz. Otherwise most choose to marry someone from showbiz or politics or some famous business family to remain in limelight all life.

They get limelight for life, hashtags in their name and support from both fandoms.

It is a win win for RK and Alia, especially for RK who was flopping otherwise and ageing, known more for manchild roles, but now gets more hype due to Alia who is a bigger hit machine at BO than him.

Bachchans also have it only as long as senior Bs are alive.

Once they are no more, Bachchans will also be reduced to past glory or old time brand name like Nehru family.

Though I totally agree Kapoors are no longer the first family of Bollywood and those days are over when every member of their family was actor, producer, director, distributor and they were having own studios, theatre etc.

Ofc Aloo & her family see the Kapoors as a huge brand name & ofc she wanted to marry him for that name. No 2 opinions about that. But they aren’t such a big name as people imagine, is all that we are saying. Aloo also married him b/c before she became Alia Bhatt, apparently the Bhatts were looked down on in BW. Now she has full legitimacy being the Kapoor bahu. But the Bachchans are definitely the FF of BW. The Kapoors don’t have as much as to their name as people imagine.

Dhawan’s wife comes from a pretty wealthy business family btw-. She’s an outsider but a very “rich” one. No-one amongst them marry into normal families.


The rest I agree on. Most people especially Indians live to social-climb & marry “well.” It’s a different thing that I know a lot of women who wouldn’t marry a RK even on gun-point. 😆 But everyone makes different choices so Aloo went into this knowing full-well what she’s signed up for.
