True. The mid-wives or dhayi were well trained women. All things are region specific but this one's not very accurate. In 1600s, we already have Europeans in the peripheral regions and even in the court of Mughals. They brought with them western medicine. Yunani, Ayurveda was already being used and both men and women practiced it. A princess might not be allowed to treat a commoner or a man but she could totally treat women (even if it's within the harem).
