About destroying BALH2 that she did, courtesy below average level writing the great dhond sisters. They become so “hi-fi” types but they are still their thought process is too downmarket to deserve at such a place of influence where what they write is way into the lives of people… because from such a place, whatever you do should be done keeping in mind the people, what is RIGHT what is NOT… what people want, what people wish for, especially when people are themselves being so forthcoming about telling you. For crying out loud we held protests almost a year ago just to stop that awful 1st leap, sun lete Humari baat ussi time toh Itna gud gobar hona hi Nai tha. But ofcourse their egos were too big to not let them agree to the right thing audience was telling them. 😑

Of course it's not essential that a story loses the plot. But crafting a story takes time and care.

Thought kahan se dalenge, SB? One, and probably most important, there's no storyboard beyond the first few episodes, if that. Just hang out the carrot and hope by the time they get to the stage where formula starts really taking over the audience is already in love with at least one, if not both leads.

Second, much as we blame the cvs, in the absence of the point above (no real story), it must be hell difficult to write for a daily soap. We see the bloopers, the lack of continuity and coherence, the nonsense and the face palm moments, but writing on the fly, as we know they do, must be hard. Worse, writing for more than one show at a time. Quality? What's that, and who cares? When we compare current serials to old ones like Saans or Buniyaad, those were weekly shows (far as I recall).

Third, the LCD factor, which is applied regardless of audience. It SHOULD have been apparent that balh2 was not a trp audience show. Trying to cater to the trp audience, diluting it's character, just screwed it up beyond repair.

I hold no brief for the writers--in fact, I'd like all formulaic writers forever banished--but, as I've often said here, the ideas aren't theirs. Look across channels and phs and you'll see the same rubbish simultaneously. And writers selling out in spite of knowing what response their work will get we won't get into. Remember how Nikita Dhond's writeaftermeals account disappeared from insta just before the s**t hit the fan preleap?

Very few cvs ever respond positively to complaints or cries of outrage. Most have the suggestion that you stop watching if you don't like their show, and they write for a larger crowd, who supposedly love the very things you're complaining about.

That's why I'm glad the gen leap in balh2 failed spectacularly. As they say, you can't fool everyone all the time. This is a payback for thinking the viewers can be eternally tricked into watching the crap they dish out.

Mages, yes, it avoided those aspects, at least, but for me it was destroyed because they destroyed the character who most drew me to the show and kept me checking it off and on, hoping she would somehow return (a nice, hard whack to the head or something, anything, to restore my Priya). There was a lot else wrong, but we know we can't expect any serial to tick all the boxes. Much as I liked Ram too, after the genericization of Priya it was just not the same.

Editing was path-e-tic, indeed. Writing turned crap long before Priya1 disappeared, but I liked her so much, I'd have tolerated the useless kachori-kangan bs with my usual strategy of short breaks.

🤣That's poetic licence, meaning people tolerated much of balh2 because they loved NM/Ram and/or Priya/Disha.

Priya was unique as we have never seen such realistic strong headed character the butchering of her core character that really hurts. But than she also said that love makes her weak and when she fall in love with Ram she did became weak but Dhonds just mess it up with her character doesn't know how to balance her. She can be weak but not by destroying her core character

Geez! I hope not😡 . I remember when she found out she was writing for kuch rang 3 . She wanted feedback from sm . Off course she did not listen and it died a slow death.

She even screwed up ib gen leap. And it ended in 3 months.😆.

I believe she got a writing credit for balh1. I do not know how that went.
