I read this somewhere that Murtasim was not aware of Maa Begum bringing Meerab. In that scene Haya was coming and trying to talk to him before Meerab came. So he thought that it was Haya.

And like someone said why did Murtasim think that Meerab would come and hug him? When she comes she will talk to him first.
