My perspective also slightly different. Have to see what the future episodes show, but my gut feeling is telling me he is just teaching her a very cruel lesson.
The two times he nearly abandoned her he failed to see her pain, her tears and pretty much told her to get lost, because he was blinded by anger. This time his reaction was unusually calm. He wasn't angry just determined like he was in the jump episode. He was trying to prove a point, get the right reaction out of her but she failed in understanding his lesson.
Ever since she stuck her nose in Maryam business, he feared she was going to make the same mistake again. He desperately tried to stop it but deep down he knew he can't change her mind. But his fear of losing her clouds his judgement so he demands something of her that is she not capable of giving and neither does he want her to give that up. Who she is, is what he admires most about her so why would he want her to become something else.
If he really believed his wife wanted to leave him she wouldn't be standing there begging him. She didn't move, he had to take her away, she didn't get out of the car, he had to drag her out. Those are not the actions of a woman who wants to leave her husband, and he wasn't that blinded by anger to ignore all this.
He has warned her with words that he will drop her from his heart, but nope she is not listening. When she cried and called out his name, he shut her down he knew what she was going to say and he didn't want to hear it. No more excuses. I am going to abandon you, I don't love you, I have lost my faith in you, he can't be more any more cruel than this. He could have slapped her and it wouldn't have hurt as much.
Meerab doesn't abandon relations whether it is loser friends, hopeless SILs, and not even a witch who tried to kill her because for better or for worst she is family. She will not do to others what others did to her. The betrayal she faced cuts so deep that she can't betray anyone else but herself. But what Murtasim demands from her is she take care of herself first and take care of him, screw the rest of the world. But Meerab does the opposite and will continue to do the opposite. She will not change, she is the constant he must adapt to her.
