I don’t remember MPK much but from what I remember he was moping around during the first half of the movie because she didn’t have time for him because she was helping his mom in the kitchen. I think he was a better character after his dad acted like a jerk. But again, I don’t remember it very well.

I agree with TM that the two Prems in MPKDH appealed to no one. Ironically these two Prems were probably the most interesting Prems Barjatya has written (I haven’t seen the one with Sonam). And that’s a good indication of what kind of a story teller he is.

You're right. Despite being portrayed as an ideal male, his character isn't flawless.

But in HAHK, it was Nisha's decision to marry Rajesh and Prem respected it. Prem in Vivah marries a girl whose body is completely burnt in fire. He definitely wasn't just horny by the end of the movie. That was his character arc.😆

The transition wasn't sudden which made audience accept it. Bhai phase started with Tere Naam in 2003. But it really came in track with Wanted 6 years later. Actually the whole 2000s was a transition phase for him.
