Starting with this fantastic Carnatic fusion featuring classical singer duo Ranjani- Gayatri in raagam Chakravakam (equivalent to Hindustani’s Ahir Bhairav)

Beautiful song completely in Raag Malkosh, which is extremely difficult while composing mainstream songs.

Also, didn't lose the Teen Taal beat at any time!

Chitragupta was great, unfortunately highly underrated.

Ashley I love this song and the raag (Malkauns) but we have a separate thread for the Golden oldies from Hindi Cinema. Please post it there 😳

Forgot to mention the violinist and the vocalist (girl) are Ambi and Bindu Subramanian, the legendary violinist L. Subramaniam’s kids (you might be more familiar with him as the guy who married Kavita Krishnamurthy). Oh yes, there are so many fabulous Carnatic fusion bands and artists! They are a whole breed and they are brilliant! Carnatic artists and musicians are so vastly under-rated and under-appreciated so I will be shamelessly plugging them on this thread!

my this was wonderful! ❤️❤️The santoor is such a soothing instrument, it always gives me a feeling of floating in a gentle stream, breeze blowing softly in my hair, breathing in the fresh air in the wilderness! My heart lurched when the flute came in — ahh beautiful! and then it evolved into a folksy piece which was quite unexpected tbh.

Thanks for sharing, Deepu! Loved it! Will be coming back to this again for sure! 🤗
