Oh this made me sit down and reflect!
talking in general, It will take generations to undo and erase this mentality! Women are taught and expected to put men on pedestals for doing the bare minimum. This kinda mindset is so deeply rooted that a complete annihilation will take collective humongous efforts, which is next to impossible!
Yes, the conditioning is instilled into girls right from childhood, enabled by both men and women around them! Women equally partake in this!
When it comes to fictional men, it gets more ridiculous, because looks charm the young girls away! Not exaggerating, but my heart literally breaks for my gender especially the young girls, when I read their comments on social media about characters like Meerab and Murtasim! I feel sad that they might never get wise enough to see through the red lines and misogynistic undertones in real life as well, the way they cannot see it in the show!
It also makes me thank my luck that I can rationalise better than them, and take fiction as fiction!
Young girls need guidance and and social media these days ain't it!
Also, the elder ones aren't spared either! I met my aunt on eid and she's watching tere bin! I was taken aback by her views on Meerab! She told me she'd rather watch a crybaby Hala than a Meerab because a girl that 'assertive' cannot be found in real life! I don't know if I should take this in positive that the writer has kept Meerab so pushy on that front or be sad at my aunt's expectations from heroines on tv!
💯 💯 💯
I was going to bold parts but yes to everything.
