Yes he could have removed his hand easily. But he didn't want to.

He wanted to feel her, be close to her.

He rather choose to kneel down to be close with her than sleeping on his sofa comfortably.

He smiles before closing his eyes, so that was meant to show he felt peace near her.

But contrary to popular opinion, I do understand why meerab freaked out seeing him close to her.

If my husband with whom I don't share intimate relationship comes close to me in my unconscious state. I will also react the same.

She believed him immediately when he explained.

Both are not wrong.
