Samantha delivered a dud just now.If they opted for Samantha as a leading lady keeping in mind the southern audiences then their caluculations are wrong.

Samantha doesn't have that kind of a pull like Nayantara or Anushka Shetty.

I don't agree. Shakuntalaam had everything going against it. She certainly has star power, far more than most Bollywood actors and I think she'd beat Ranveer's string of flops lmfao. You have to remember Sam skipped out on most promo, the budget got cut horrendously, and the project got delayed and hype was lost.

Just because she is not a Nayan or an Anushka Shetty does not mean she doesn't have anything. The more important thing is if the jodi of the two will work with the story.

Yes please cast Samantha in a mythology epic after all that poise and grace and aura and razor sharp dialogue delivery she displayed in shaakuntalam…

Many things were going against the movie starting with Guna Shekhar's inability to translate his passion onto the screen, quality of VFX casting Samantha in this role was his major blunder.Samantha is okay for contemporary story but Mythology requires something more. Samantha's dubbing didn't help either. Inspite being partial Telugu and living Hyderabad for such a long time and acting in so many Telugu films she still hasn't been able to get her pronunciation right.

All she could talk about was her divorce and her illness during the promotions.

Nobody can hype themselves like the way she does.

With this kind of budget, it could very well be an all time disaster.

Atleast 200 cr toh kam karo bhai.

Ambanis ko black ka white karne ke liye aur bhi options available honge.

It's not the fault of Sam. The director should have either trained Sam for proper pronunciation of ancient Telugu or he should have just hired a dubbing artist. Instead he made her dub for other languages too like Tamil and Hindi.

Sam is an excellent actress and there is nothing lacking in her part here.

As far as I can remember, Sam's solo films like Oh baby, U turn, Yashoda did far better than Nayan's solo outings. Yes, Anushka is in a different league though.

He didn’t make her do it …Sam said she insisted given she wanted to being a contemporary, less melodramatic touch to the role which she didn’t think a dubbing artist would be able to bring the way she wanted …

Fair enough …props for that but that needs work

Sai pallavi and keerthy suresh are not native Telugu speakers but they nailed their dubbing and even managed to bring in telengana accents seamlessly in some of them (mahanati, fidaa, virata parvam, love story, dasara)

Ranveer and Sammy look interesting.

For Bollywood standards of mythology (PS: New age) Sam is a lot.

Otherwise in South Anushka has set the bar too high.

As for Shakuntalam, Gunashekar often fails to execute his ideas on large scale.
