It made Murtasim sad too. I think so many of Murtasim’s dialogues yesterday were signaling his realization and maybe acceptance that maybe he can’t make Meeru happy, for whatever reason, maybe Rohail, forced marriage…not being able to study (she argued that they should wait for Maryam to finish her studies). Some of this realization comes from Meerab’s actions and choice of words (chai scene and her fighting about Maryam’s choice in marriage), but some of it is also his misunderstandings and assumptions. Meerab said yes, when he asked if she is happy, but he didn’t believe her. He knows she is “making do”in this marriage. And the Nourez conversation he agreed with…”why should he marry Haya when he can’t keep her happy?” So much of their thinking and communication is coming from statements and observations about other people’s situations, instead of them directly communicating their wants and needs to each other. Lord knows what Murtasim will do with that realization and how he interprets it. Will he make a more fundamental change to himself, for her? Because so far, she doesn’t believe his actions, till now, mean much to her. He needs to do something else. He is not ok with her “making do” in this marriage. Will these be his inner changes? So, will he make a change to his rigid feudal way of thinking? Will he get her to study law? Will he act more compassionately with regards to the marriage choices of other women in the family?

Or, will the change be something drastic and negative for him? Does he believe that he can’t make her happy regardless of what inner changes he makes. Will he “let her go” to live according to what he thinks will make her happy?

I think yesterday’s episode was hard for many of us to see, because of Murtasim’s stability in the past (as others here have noted), and his sudden instability here. (When a person is unstable, they are more reactive to the situation, so sometimes they are happy, sometimes they laugh, sometimes they react with anger, passive aggressiveness etc. Murtasim was all of those things in yesterday’s episode.) In a wacky way, I guess it’s good that I have no clue. Some think there will be a separation, some think not. Some think she will hide, some think he will support her and know where she is. So, in that sense, the writer has actually done a good job I have to admit.

Murtu has also brought Meeru gajras and green choodis (that's probably less than Rs. 200 too).

Dinner date pe haya ka khana fit karadiya tha toh woh bhi sasta pada Murtu ko.
