Case in point- Marriage without consent is acceptable to murtu but not to meerab. It’s reflective of their world view- he’s got a regressive feudal view and she has a liberal mindset

Not logic, but for fans to have an emotional connect with an onscreen couple we need those emotional conversations too. Right now except the scene where he says "Tum Mere Ghar Chalo" we haven't seen any emotional connection between these two....the emphasis by makers has been more on attraction.

They have never talked about their their goals or ambitions or Murtu's chahat etc. Ismein koi logic nahi chahiye.

I always wanted to see the emotional bonding between Meerab and Murtasim. They don’t talk, that is the problem. I feel that Meerab is open for communication because in Episode 12 she listened to him and she put her points across in front of him. She clearly expressed her discomfort with Haya in front of him. She tried to talk to him about Mariyam. She likes to get the clarity of things.
Murtasim has the feudal background and may be it is difficult for him to communicate. He is also learning. Between these two I feel Meerab is ready for communication.

My assumption was that when Merub said tum bhi, she was not thinking of R per se but was approaching the jaan dena question in a way to not seem vulnerable (upar se aana chah rahi thi).

If you see the scene, when she first asked the jaan dena question (in the third person), her tone was contemplative. But when it came time to ask Murtasim directly if he loves her enough to give his life for her, her tone was different. She had stiffened and sounded defiant. I read this as Merub not wanting to come across as vulnerable when directly asking Murtasim if he loves her enough - so she tried to frame it in a tum bhi context, which backfired spectacularly.

Many things will backfire on Meerab, she better be prepared.

If you see her monologue at the start of the scene, she is thinking of Anas-Maryam and says that Maryam is so lucky that the person she loves also loves her back so much so as to give his life .

So when Merub first asked the jaan dena question to Murtasim [in the third person] main khush hogayee keh is the drama trying to tell us that Merub loves Murtasim that's why she wants to know if he loves her enough to give his life for her.

It also made me wonder if the source of her feeling vulnerable is that she is too afraid to acknowledge she loves him which is prompting her to ask him if he will give his jaan for her. So, instead she turns it around to make it a test of his alleged love with a dash of tum bhi for some added nonchalance.

Though all this interpretation could very well be my khush fehmi 💔

Agree mismatch word will hit based on which stage of relationship one is in! Murtasim getting hurt is very justified but from meerab perspective nope! She has progressed a lot in accepting this marriage, her saying we shld have been given time to understand each other is a major leap else it was always I was forced in this marriage, it was always me for her ! Now finally she is acknowledging its them in this marriage,he was also forced like her !

Frankly, eventually he was supposed to get hurt , so sooner the better for him. The reality of their marriage has been hitting him since her silence at rohail house , he is not bringing up doesn’t mean he forget!
