I have a contrary opinion: I think Murtu falling in love was very well etched out.

For me he started softening towards her when he found out about her parentage. But his feelings turned romantic at the dargah.. he was already feeling empathy for her from the door scene and when he saw her praying something shifted and he started feeling the first stirrings of love. He immediately changes his stance and says I will say no to his marriage and help you.

When she says yea to the marriage he goes to her and in spite of still having reservations about marrying her, he does because she needs him. He knew he would give this marriage and her a lot of effort from that moment. And it was that moment that she transformed from Meerab to his fiancé and it was halal for him to want her.,. This is where he started realizing she is his and started thinking differently about her. Rationalizing that in spite of their differences they could make it work. And this eventually is reflected in his speech at the roof top on their Walima night- where he tells her that she could do good as a Khanam and still be Meerab. He has had the mental discussion with himself already


Throughout their wedding festivities he is mesmerized by her beauty and that added to the physical attraction part. At the Walima night when she hugs him, he’s like yayyee I can give in to this lust she’s invoking in me. The rest of the flirtation and nok jhok- is just that- I am interested in my begum aur main usse patayoonga.. this isn’t love yet

I think his feelings continue growing and you can see that’s he’s smitten at the breakfast scene after he has an allergy attack but it doesn’t turn to love until after she’s kidnapped. I think the intermediate loss makes him realize how dear she is to him and the scene where he cares for her is where he realizes that’s he fallen in love with her..
