We did discuss here in IF about what would meerub feel but it was overshadowed by Murtasim's actions. So mainly we ended up discussing about Murtasim. Well twitter, that's a different story altogether.

She could be numb.. bcoz she has suffered from abandonment, trust issues, identity crisis all at once. Not just showing emotions but also trusting and building a relationship have taken a back seat. That's y she is still conflicted and is just going with the flow. Every episode we see her taking a step towards Murtasim n then again taking a step back.

The reason most are bummed is because Meerab's indifference is shown in a stark contrast to Murtasim's devotion in this marriage. That is where the writer somewhere failed to gain a neutral perspective for her main characters.

I was thinking about this one and the other one about abandonment!

Now that I look back , I feel he came onto her too fast and hard! He started right on walima night !
maybe he should have waited for her to adjust and slowly worked his way first being friends, then build trust and then flirting and romance.

As far as abandonment earlier I was not sure as neither she nor anyone seems talking about parentage mostly it’s her independence and dreams being snatched away! Even yesterday Murtasim says she was imprisoned and forced to marry someone she doesn’t like but he also never addresses or talks about how her identity has been taken away! Is it because he knows that is danger zone to thread or is it because he finds it non issue ?

But the second promo look of hers when MB tells waqas to take her away for few days, was she looking at Murtasim hoping he would say No! Is it like ping-pong for her again and when he doesn’t do anything she is crestfallen and then resorts to her only coping mechanism which is being sarcastic/harsh on him, when she says is he worried she might not return as she very well knows he will be frank and was hoping for some Positive response or assurance!

Who asked her how she felt knowing her parents are not actually her parents and she's the blood and flesh of the family she disliked all along?

When has she laughed wholeheartedly (golgappa was another story, good food makes you giddy) or lived life to the fullest and with her own wish? The khet scene where she ran after baby goats was her moment with herself which landed her in a tragic situation, because her husband had enemies waiting for his wife. Her walima dance and bam! She was slapped, infront of all, as a bride.

The moment Murtasim is away from her, she gets harmed, by either his own people or his enemies, thrown out for an accident she didn't do, kidnapped and what not.

Her whole life is as upturned and in a hell, as you would think his is.

But what no one notices, is that he is A MAN, who has agency, while she as a woman has none.

Even the agency of divorce rests on him. He can do whatever he wills and everyone will accord. Same isn't the case with her.

In a realistic situation, she would have ended up in a major identity crisis and completely unavailable emotionally, most likely depression and self-loathing.

Pfft. Here, she has obviously shut herself up. Cold. Apathetic. Rude. Indifferent.

Still beautifully flawed.

P.S. caught up a part of SH review, where Hassan says they have turned Meerab 'daaghdar' and it is so enraging when flawed female characters are so quickly put into labels and brackets. They indirectly deprived her of good character, which is again, quite judgmental for a show still on-air. And even if she has some shades of grey, why is she unacceptable? Men are given ample chances. No chances are given to women to reflect and redeem. all of them deserve abla naaris of heroines, who are just available to romance their heroes. Nothing beyond that. Pissed.
