I thought the conversation that took place between the mother and daughter regarding the outfit gives us a good insight into the differences between their personalities

1) Tara values her relationships and the stuff people do out of love. Razia could be least bothered if it doesn't fit her aesthetics.

2) Tara likes her colours just like the life she wants to lead. Happy and bright. Quite a contrast to what Razia feels. She prefers sober and dull colours.

3) Razia is right with saying that hospital has a decorum and that outfit cant be worn to such a place. But it was her birthday after all.. so Tara wouldn't mind just doing what makes her happy.

Also it makes sense to see Tara wearing something a little too OTT for a hospital. You'd imagine she would wear bright colours instead of something with sparkles and borders but basically she gets one day where she can be herself and dress the way she wants instead of wearing what Razia wants. Since its just one day, she goes all out, if ukwim.
