Even i asked my self the same thing. Was it supposed to be may I instead of can I. I think amna and hassan asked the same question as well..
Then i googled the difference and i learned something lol, while may I is to seek permission and thats what we tend to use, can I is like if someone who has doubts about their ability to participate..
So i think, since meerab has not allowed murtasim to touch her, can I was more appropriate as in he had doubts whether he could or not..

I thought it was deliberate to include CAN I....
May I - its more formal. It is about the possibility when you are asking for permission.
But, Murtu knows his rights as a husband and is capable of exerting his rights provided he gets the permission.
Therefore, Can I is more suitable here. Its informal n murtu has the ability to do it, that is to put the gajra bangles on her wrist but he is still seeking permission.
