I understand the ring is not just a ring she is thinking about her past life of bliss blah blah blah blah. I don't think she is considering using Rohail to escape her marriage.
Rings are intimate gestures between a couple that is why many of us are like NOOOOOOOO GIRL
Why couldn't it have been a calling card, or a pen, or a watch or a book anything but a ring
Sorry I wanted to add like in desi culture a woman after marriage would never accept a saree from a man who is not a husband, brother, or a very close male family relative, that is cardinal sin. it is not about cheating just accepted codes of conduct.
I want to but I cannot defend her if she really does something so stupid. Will I stop rooting for her? No. But yes, it will be take away a lot from her.
Even if we interpret this as her chance to freedom, Murtasim will be betrayed and his actions would then be justified, because he's the one making more efforts. the bewafai ost will make more sense as this plot develops. Contract or no contract, acceptance or no acceptance, the religious sanctity of their marriage stays intact no matter what.
The writer could surely have taken some other route than a ring to show Meerab's dilemma. You do not make your heroine do cheap tricks to uplift your hero and set him up for ultimate heartbreak. That's where the internalised misogyny that women themselves partake in gets highlighted even more. It reflects in her writing for Murtasim.
I have this feeling that the show has reached that middle point where shows usually mess up and lose viewers. It will take some good damage control to bring them back after that.
