Rant session ahead beware. This will be long and painful.
It has happened the proverbial episode when the show goes off the cliff. I had desperately hoped we could hold out longer. It is not like I watch the show expecting Pride and Prejudice level writing but this was a shit fest.
This entire episode spent dismantling Murtasim character which they spend 20 episodes building. His character is the crown jewel of your show, your golden goose don't get anything right but atleast do him justice.
Murtasim dialogue "Yeh Khandhan mujh se hai, mein khandan se nahin hoon" established the aloofness of his character. He keeps himself above everyone, detached and lonely. We got the vibe he loves his mother but is distant from her, he doesn't even speak with his sister, hates haya, his anwar chacha is an acquaintance and they are stiff with each other.
Ok before I go further I have to say it deep breaths people, Wahaj dropped the ball as Murtasim, and it is not his fault. Imagine during the shooting of Batman actor was given love guru dialogues, he would go what the hell Batman would never say such nonsense. Dialogues matter an actor can only play the character correctly if he is given the appropriate script.
I can see him forgiving Malik, but he would do it Murtasim style with a threat and clear warning. He won't go lets hug big guy and why did he look teary. Wahaj acting dropped all of Murtasim intensity in this scene, whyyyyyyy probably the direction he got. But it made him look like a gullible school boy who is looking for validation when he should be more shrewd.
BTW did we miss a memo when was it ever said that when Murtasim falls in love, he was going to change everything about himself. We never got the feeling that he had a problem with how his life was, he was content, yes he wants a happy married life which is a wise choice who wants a grumpy wife at home, but that does not mean his equation with others will change.
Here comes one the many ridiculous scenes of this episode. Does Murtasim seem like the guy who would go around dropping love bombs. First of all he wouldn't say I love her, he would call her his jaan which is more his style. And it also seemed out of character for him to say I love you to Anwar, he would apologize and show respect Murtasim style not in this gushy way. I swear I expected in the next scene he would say I love you to Bakthu as well.
Can waqas and co. permanently get lost. NOWWWW they want meerab to come with them abandon her marriage, because they finalllllyyyyyy realize Meerab marrying into a orhtodox household would destroy her life. They did not know this before, yes they did they just didn't care enough to fight fo her. BTW where they did get this power all of a sudden, supposed Meerab said yes, will they just be able to walk out what about Anwar and Murtasim. So it is established Meerab will never go back to them even if she is not with Murtasim. Best outcome of this episode atleast one thing was right.
Ok this romantic scene with Meerab feed me please by Murtasim. It started out great, Yumna looked gorgeous but towards the end with the new OST (song wasn't the problem it was nice) and Murtasim not acting like Murtasim I thought I am seeing two different characters helllooooooo what show is this. Someone wiser tell me what was wrong in this scene. Yumna was on point she was still being Meerab, but what was going on with Wahaj. Yes Wahaj was very charming but something was not right with the way the whole scene ended in the lawn. Hand romance was Meerab and Murtasim. Even romance has to be signature to a couple. Every jane austen couple have their own brand of romance that is signature to that couple.
Now then the show finally went from this is not looking right to WHAT THE HELL. Murtasim whole conversation with Haya you can't even dignify it. The way he even said kyun to address her, wahaj again I can't blame him who is directing this episode. He is a man is very territorial to see him plead with anyone to protect what is his is not in line with his personality. Actually this scene would have made more sense, after haya ran away, Ma Begum has a talk with Murtasim about how Haya is a problem and they decide to marry her off. So him pretending to be nice because she will leave soon is more apt with his character.
Meerab is more of a tom boy character, it would make more sense if she was irritated to get ready and not looking like a happy teenager. Meerab even said comfort is important to her in her dressing, that is her character she would wear simpler suits and not be glamorous.
The transition to the final scene what a mess.
Anwar was right how bad was the head injury to Murtasim his whole personality has changed, and he is suffering memory loss.
