You picked up a very real point here! In their minds, they assume that shaadi hui toh sab kuch ho gaya and the woman can be shown popping babies in the next few episodes.

This one is highlighting consent in a bold way, especially from the wife, which is a feat in itself, considering their shows. So instead of highlighting the fact that the man, even though he's ready, is awaiting his wife's consent, they have picked up only nonsensical points to make.

for a man it is an act of conquest and for a woman it is an act of love. this is why meerab cannot consent yet, because she is not there emotionally. lets say meerab is not stupid did she think realistically she can hold on to this contract forever, perhaps she was just buying time for herself to consent freely.

the concept of no means no doesn't exist for married couples in the conservative wings of our society. In arranged marriages women are expected to consummate the marriage on the first night itself. Even in very educated upper class families this happens women are under pressure to just do it on the first night. No one cares if she is comfortable, or how traumatic it would be for her if she is not emotionally ready. i know the pressure is also on the men, but lets face it this affects both genders differently.

This is probably one of the rare dramas where this issue is being highlighted. The no sex thing is used as a comedic punchline by reviewers, and even by us audience are mocking it, but if think earnestly it highlights a big problem of how a woman emotional needs are irrelevant in comparison to a man's desires.

I have no problem in accepting a devar marrying his bhabi after his brother dies, for a valid reason unlike shown in ghum. This was shown nicely in d tv show GULAAL (again neil bhatt is d devar). The relationship was pure n platonic between d couple till d FL accepted him as a husband.

the problem with the theme of the show is that they tried to make her white wash her character instead of who she was meant to be selfish, delusional, psychologically damaged, hindi tv problem female leads have to be likeable they can't do and sell complex female leads.

Right! I felt the same issue with the show. They tried to make Ahana a lot more righteous than Bihter was.

Also, most audience do tend to put female leads into certain boxes, from the very first few scenes and then they are immediately repulsed when she does something which does not fit into that box that they have put her into. Basically, the margins for errors and blunders are kept very limited for the heroine. While same is not the case for heroes.

I guess they started to try justify her when they started getting backlash. She was pretty grey when show started. Smriti and aashim had good chemistry. Sad it ended abruptly. The nephew's character was better written in the Hindi version than the Turkish version. I didn't like the character of the older guy in both versions. Dude married a girl almost as young as his daughter and then expected her to be a perfect mother to his children . The turkish version looked like he might die at anytime😆. The Hindi version atleast made him younger and healthier looking.

That was the whole point the nephew/step son character is essentially a villain, he is a sexual predator. But she is too damaged to see the truth and torches her life. Hindi serial tried to romanticize the whole affair, the turkey focused on the lust side hence all the clothes ripping kissing steamy bed scenes played by some gorgeous looking actors.
