@ bold - Actually I don’t think it’s that. I think that for a woman with independent thought, she herself has to go through confusing and contradicting thoughts when the circumstances around her are more burdensome that what she is used to. At the same time, she is also a woman who has begun to feel for the man she is with, and yet she has been shunted. She has always had very little time to react because everyone around her reacts way too fast. People around her react on basis of their conditioning, she even if she wants to take a second is unable to react the way she wants. Yaar I don’t want to comment on scenes that have not happened yet… but in my experience … end of the day the illogical twist of woman leaving and having child away is the old fashioned massy way writers approach how to portray a so called strong woman. I am sorry but it’s the classic agnipariksha, it’s what Ram did to Sita and this aspect to cultural storytelling is ingrained in many stories (I am purposely saying cultural and not religious)
Unfortunately we are unable to get out of that regressive clutches of storytelling. There have been wonderful books written ins very progressive way about this. There is a book called Liberation of Sita by Volga - you must check it out.
