I think the only way he can redeem it is if meerab slaps him the way he slapped her at some point in the show. Usually everything he does to her she does to him. Like the swimming pool bit, and the way they cared for each other when the other was unconscious. He argues with her and she argues with him and so on. I still can't accept this that meerab tried to talk to him various times regarding naila...and murtu knows ki meeran chup nahi rahegi...meerab khud kehti hai main shadi nahi hone dungi...vo tabhi toh panchayat mei aati hai...tab murtu ka fault tha yar ..use. Btana chahiye tha...meerab ka impulsive decision nahi tha vo...she tries...same accident was not her fault..murtu was driving recklessly in anger.. .fir bhi she was blamed.....

According to him Meerab should be thankful that she has Murtasim in his life. The problems in Meerab's life is self created by her. He is totally team Murtasim......kind of justified the slap scene and said "woh thapad Meerab ko nahi, Murtasim ke dil pe pada tha, he falls in love with her after that".
It's not Murtasim's character but this stupid justification by the directors is making me mad. He is a flawed character, why is it so difficult to accept it??
PS: Wahaj was against the slap but Yumna wanted the slap scene.
