This is something i hate about itv. Here fl is always shown as superwoman who can do anything, is good in all spheres of life whether personal or professional.
Now someone can be a gold medalist in architecture but he/she might not be the best person in presentation or be outspoken or street smart. He/she can mistake in other office related matters. Thats how normal person are.
But since its itv fl so she cant be wrong anywhere. She will be an all rounder and always saves the day for everyone specially for ml.😆
Yaha to phir bhi theek hai. Itv is full of this kind of shit. In one show fl is autorickshaw driver and she brought a closing factory out of crisis and now a successful business woman🤣
In another show, a woman who didn't even complete college, who had no exposure of business or even outer world is now running a successful MNC🤣
Matlab MBA ke sare colleges band kar do aur itv fl se classes lagwao ki har jagah successful kaise banna hai.
I don't have a problem with showing someone without experience or education coming in and being a success. if we listen to some of the business success stories, it does happen. "lijat papad" is a women co-op type business that was started by housewives without education. it actually is fascinating story how they made a work from home model decades ago with a network of women. so it does happen.
however, what is eyerolling about ITV is the lack of mistakes and problems the FL will face. every business owner who ever gets interviewed will talk about the number of mistakes they made on their road up. their journey didn't happen overnight and it was a step by step process. at many times, the business faced shakeups where they thought they might have to close. sometimes, they had to admit that certain business decisions were not working and then change tactic. that is all part of running the business.
“Everything I learnt was by trial and error. It cost me time and money, but the lessons have endured.” -- this is from a women enterpreneur - chayaa nanjappa who owns 'nectar fresh'. in yesterday's episode, katha talked about how pottery with made in foreign country would be valued more. and it can be very difficult for made in india business to break in. chayaa's story is interesting in how she started a very niche rural business and broke into a segment that was completely dominated by foreign players. there was no indian players even catering to that segment when she started and so it seemed impossible.
but she can still admit that she made costly mistakes and that she had no idea what she was doing when she started. that is humility. my point is that real business leaders who are successful don't show the arrogance of typical ITV FLs. they will admit they do not know it all and there was learning curve.
however, ITV will not show such dynamicsm. that is why it looks like a huge joke when they show these superwomen FL. like you said, we all have flaws and it is not possible to have someone be good at everything. that is precisely the reason we have teams and departments so that people will certain skills will contribut those talents.
also the writers don't seem to do any research into what office life looks like. my feel is that none of these writers have even stepped a foot into that kind of workspace. so they don't really understand the dynamics, the office politics, the chit chat, the rivalry. I keep coming back to the outfits at earthcon -- I find it incredulous that no women seems to show up in this office wearing indian or indowestern wear to office when that is standard.
even in yesterday's meeting, all the women were dressed in pant suits. why? will you not be taken seriously if you wear a sari or a salwar?? 🙄🙄 in reality, corporate meetings and presentations, women do still dress in saris and yes, they are not glam dolls but very serious.
** for those curious about chayaa, you can read her story here and here and the latest here
