You can look for recipes in YouTube I only know to make that rice, and potatoes and her being part of Nepal I knew from the first day when she wore that Nepali traditional attire and today when explaining her dish to chefs she used Nepali word like how they pronounce in Nepali. Didn’t thought she would make those dishes because the challenge was taste of India.

Waise it was so good to see Kunal again on the show. I really used to enjoy him and chef Ajay. They were the OG MasterChef judges after which Vikas joined. Don't know why didn't they renew chef Ajay again. He was so much fun!

He was in season 5 too.
So Nayanjyoti decided who would get what benefit from his team and he decided that Aruna and Gurkirat would get 10 minutes extra cooking time and Sachin and himself would have 5 minutes with Chef Kunal. I think 5 minutes with chef Kunal was a good option - not only does he help you, but can also. Taste your dishes and give you tips. If there’s something you can’t do, make him do that!
Today, the challenge wasn’t difficult, it was the taste of India - which could be flavours of your region/community or whatever you want to showcase. It was a chance to play to your strengths.
I quite liked what most contestants had thought of.
Aruna - she thought of serving temple Prasad and chose three different type of Prasad - khaja from jagannath temple, which she flavoured with jasmine and sugar syrup and filled it in with some cream like a Mille feuille. Her second was a panchamrit cake and the last one was Madra (yoghurt and chickpeas) from Himachal. I thought that was an interesting way of depicting flavours of India. I quite liked the idea of making a panchamrit cake - would’ve never thought of it! I agree with the judges - the combination of sweet and savoury together was a little confusing. Taste wise only the madra wasn’t great, but the other two dishes were good. She doesn’t like getting feedback unless it’s positive and it’s so evident in her expressions.
Gurkirat - he made a deconstructed sarson ka saag and makai Ki roti. It looked lovely, but that’s not what I call deconstructed. He could’ve given it another name.
So he had a makai Ki roti crip (his first batch burnt, and his second batch was cooked in a hurry, not sure it was properly cooked). On that he had a chutney bordered by mashed potatoes and topped with a sarson ka saag flan. On top he had hung yoghurt and jeera caviar to imitate the flavour of lassi. Sounds great and was a great way of presenting his dish. However, hai flan was too eggy and the sarson ka saag flavour was overshadowed. His pickle was too strong. Overall taste wise it fell flat.
Sachin - He made a walnut halwa and a pandan and blue pea flavoured kulfi, with a khus root crisp. He called chef Kunal quite early on, which bewildered the judges and they thought he wasted the opportunity. I don’t think so. He wanted to ask how to use the khus root, that was his main reason. He also got another tip about how to make the black sesame crisp. His kulfi wasn’t very kulfi like because he didn’t have enough time to reduce the milk, and he added egg to hasten it. The judges didn’t even like the halwa much.
Deepa - she made mutton Rogan josh with yakhni pulao, some pickle and crisp lotus stem chips. She recieved praised for her plating and the taste of her dish. Wish she’d showcased Sindhi food - she said that’s what she’s come for, to popularize Sindhi food.
Suvarna - she made a Maharashtrian thali platter. Her platter looked beautiful. I was surprised that her fish was so undercooked. Fish cooks fast, I wonder for it to be about 80% raw, how little did she cook it. They didn’t talk much about the rest of her dish. I was curious to see and know about the elements she had.
Shanta - she made a Nepali breakfast meal inspired from Assam. She made chamre Bharat (a Nepali sticky rice), jwano ko jhol (an Ajwain seeds soup), a fried potato dish, a chutney and a black rice kheer. She served it beautifully in a clay thali and bowls. Each of her dishes was praised. It looked beautiful and rustic.
Kamaldeep, Nayanjyoti and Priyanka’s dishes will be tasted tomorrow.
One contestant will directly get a black apron tomorrow. For some reason I think it will be Priyanka, since in the precap where contestants families come, I didnt see Priyanka.

Ranveer gave apt criticisms to Gurki today. He needed to hear those. Ranveer generally shourds his inputs with showmanship. But when push comes to shove, I'd be scared to even thinking of letting him down.
