I am unable to warm up to Aaliya. Sajal is going over board in many places. Bilal just lights up the frame whenever he’s on screen, which isn’t a lot tbh.

Also side characters are getting a lot of screen space. Not just Aaliya's sisters but usky agey ky connected characters ko bhi kafi screenspace mil rahi hai.

Also it's too slow. They need to pick up the pace.

They need to establish each characters and their Dynamo with other characters and all of their individual storylines. So it's definitely gonna be slow paced and will require a lot of patience while watching it. Almost all slice of life dramas are slow paced without any major plot twist or high voltage dramas. If we are only invested in a single character or single couple then we will feel it's dragging a lot when other characters take the central stage. If we watch zindagi Gulzar hai weekly then we might feel the same. There are multiple episodes in that drama where there is zero interaction between the leads. Slice of Life dramas are more about characters and their equations than a storyline. They are better for binge watching than weekly watch i feel. Since there is no major incidences happening, audience wont be left with the curiosity of what's gonna happen next. that makes us less invested in the drama and our excitement for new episodes won't be as big as spiced up dramas.

This is the kind of drama that won't elevate our blood pressure but it won't increase our sugar level either with lots of romantic scenes since everything is subtle.

The way Aliya and Salman fight is so much different from the way murtasim and meerab fight even though both the couple have amazing chemistry and all 4 of them are good actors. But still masses are more attracted to murtasim and meerab simply because there is more mirch masala there with random pushing and pulling.

I so wish this was a webseries for Zee5 and they dropped all the episodes together. I would have binged it in a go.

They best way to watch such dramas are to binge watch after their completion. I remember durreshawar and diyaar e dil have also good ensemble cast, and they were slow paced but the wait for worth it as their stories were actually intriguing. I guess same will happen with this too. Drama will be slow but overall story would be catchy with good message

Fortunately ejls was a webseries and all the episodes aired together so it was good for a binge watch. I guess nowadays people are so used to mirch masala that this drama will look like healthy food which is feeka 😆. It is good for long-run but won't enjoy it at first.

you bring up a very good point. But I don’t mind waiting a week and watching this show, once in a while I love me something languid with some kind of comfortable homely Grace. To me this is that kind of show. I don’t watch it immediately on Saturday - I wait for Sunday afternoon, when I lie down on my bed, get me some coffee and watch it. It’s lovely.
There is something so comforting, that even in its imperfections, it’s like an old razai.

I love that Pak Tv offers this kind of range with respect to its shows. Yes it is unfortunate that only the OTT ones get all the views, but we need to champion these to continue to have the diversity on screen. Otherwise everyone will produce only those OTT shows, creativity will take a beating and so will our minds.

It’s unfortunate that we want everything perfectly lined up from shows like this, whereas we are willing to forgive so many harsh and uncomfortable story lines and premises in OTT shows. I myself have done this.

Episode 5

The first scene between mother and daughter made me sad and angry at the same time. As a woman, the mother never really had any control over anything, so for her this daughter was brought up in such a way that she listened to her mother. On one hand, the mother is thankful for such a daughter, but on the other the underlying dysfunctionality of what this can result into is so so sad and makes us viewers angry. In a way, the oldest daughter is a “mama’s boy”.

Episode 5

Yaar yeh Saif kaisa Banda hai yaar, imagination mei bhi yeh sirf at the most bhag hi sakta hai kya?! This is the extent of his bravery?!?!?! I can see myself ff these scenes from next episode for

Sirf ki gf ki thodi baat hum samajh mei aa rahi hai, Upar se show mei Ek naya character laake Khada kar diya…sorry wheelchair par hai, but you get the point. As it is hum complain kar rahe hai ki yeh show kum Dharmsala jyaada lag raha hai…Anyways yes she wants an obedient man, which is of course different from men wanting obedient women. The father says obedient men hifazat nahi kar sakte, chalo bhai yeh tay hua jab tak aurat hifazat nahi kar sakti usse obedient banke rehna padega….

Must say Aga saab’s smile when wife mentions shahi tukda with happiness is the cornerstone of every middle class parents’ romance. 😍

Finally, a balanced episode..

Today, I realized that my problem with previous couple of episodes was not their pace but the imbalance between the screen time of the leading and side characters. In the last episode, they gave too much time to Saif-ur-Rehman and then his girlfriend while Bilal's scene was extremely brief and Sheherya was totally nonexistent. Also, Uncle Thanvi and Salman's mother were totally absent.

Today, when they introduced Saif-ur-Rehman's girlfriend's father, I was so irritated that now, we've to see even the story of side characters' family problems, but thankfully that scene was brief. Another character Shakeel was introduced and I didn't mind him as he acted well and gelled in the storyline effortlessly. Other than that, Sheheryar and Bilal's storylines also moved forward. There was one scene of Uncle Thanvi, but I missed Salman's mother. The scene of hindu maid's family got as much time as needed. Overall, it was a better episode. All storylines moved forward and acting of all characters was on point. It will get better once Salman will rent the upper portion of Aaliya's house.

Episode 5

Shereyar’s character - Asvar tells us so much about this family storyline with few lines. The director’s placement of scenes is excellent …because all the families are dysfunctional in some way or the other.

But our protagonist family finds ways to be happy and that is essentially the little message I take from this episode.

The scene between choti daughter and father has my heart. Just super se bhi Upar cute.

Episode 5

While the two windows into their life is so well done, it tells us ki life mei sirf Ek perspective nahi hota, Kabhi kabhi do aankhei do alag khidkiyaaa ho sakti hai, as long as hum mei Itni flexibility ho ki we are willing to move from one side to another. Our girl stays put but her parents move from one side to another, which shows us what love and understanding of two parents can have on a daughter.

It’s just brilliantly done. This scene will stay with me for a long time

Totally agree..

The mother's love for her daughter is real and from her perspective, she's trying to do the best for her daughter.. though, she realizes that most probably what she's doing won't give any happiness to her daughter..
